Meals on Wheels has had a place in the hearts and homes of Australians for 60 years. Helping the frail older people and younger people with disabilities and their carers stay in their homes where most are happiest. Our service in Liverpool, was first established in 1964 and continues to grow and support our local residents.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) will remain a separate program. But it continues to be underfunded, putting community services under pressure.

This matters because CHSP provides the entry-level support that helps older Australians stay where they feel most comfortable – at home.

It's the support that helps your neighbour, your family member or someone in your community access nutritious meals, stay connected and continue living independently.

As a founding member of the CHSP Alliance, Meals on Wheels NSW is asking for your help.

The CHSP Alliance is calling for an additional $700 million a year in CHSP funding to ensure the support is there for everyone who needs it, now and into the future.

Add your voice. Ask your local federal MP to back this funding increase in the December Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO). Whether you're a Meals on Wheels volunteer, client, service provider, know someone who relies on community support, or simply believe everyone deserves the support to age well at home.

It’s time to talk about dementia.

Almost half a million Australians are living with dementia - and behind many of them is a family member or carer helping with everyday needs, including meals.

Dementia may affect a person’s ability to prepare meals, their interest in food or their ability to eat and drink well. Having nutritious meals delivered may help take some of the pressure off families and carers, while providing regular connection and a friendly wellness check.

❤️ A Very Special Farewell to our Chef Annabelle ❤️

After an incredible 16 years of cooking, caring and creating countless meals, we are saying a very special farewell to our wonderful Chef, Annabelle, as she begins her retirement.

For 16 years, Annabelle has been such an important part of Liverpool Meals on Wheels. Her dedication, knowledge and passion have helped shape our kitchen and, most importantly, have brought delicious, nutritious meals to thousands of people in our community.

But Annabelle gave so much more than just her cooking skills. She cared deeply about the people behind every meal and took great pride in knowing that what came out of our kitchen made a difference to someone’s day.

We are incredibly grateful for the years of hard work, laughter, friendship and the countless meals prepared with love. Annabelle, you will be very deeply missed by our clients, volunteers and the entire team.

Thank you for everything you have given to Liverpool Meals on Wheels over the past 16 years. Your legacy will remain a very special part of our service.

What a lovely day it was having Nathan Hagarty MP and Zeli Munjiza - Liverpool City Councillor join us on the road and experience a little piece of what Meals on Wheels is all about.

It was wonderful to have them meet some of our clients and see that every delivery is about so much more than a meal. It’s a friendly knock at the door, a smile, a quick chat and, for many of our clients, a special connection they look forward to each week.

We’re so proud of the incredible care our staff and volunteers bring to every delivery.

This week, the Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty MP and I had the pleasure of joining Meals on Wheels Liverpool for a delivery run.

For more than 60 years, they have been supporting people across our local community with nutritious meals and a helping hand to remain independent at home.

Their service goes well beyond the meals they deliver. For many people, each visit is also a friendly face, a conversation and an important regular check-in that helps them stay connected and supported at home.

It was wonderful to meet some of the people they support and see the care that goes into every delivery.

Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers at Liverpool Meals on Wheels for all that you do for our community.
