Mental wellbeing isn't only how we feel. It does not exist in isolation.

For people living with spinal cord injury, how they feel is often interconnected by different aspects of their daily life. Be it comfort, pain, sleep, confidence, connection, purpose and being able to take part in the things that matter.

At Forward Ability Support, this understanding sits at the heart of how we provide care. Our biopsychosocial approach looks at the whole person recognising that physical, psychological and social wellbeing are connected, and that each can influence the other.
For someone, improving wellbeing may start with finding the right equipment. For someone else, it could be rebuilding confidence, discovering new ways of doing things, reconnecting with others, or working with people who really listen and support what matters to you.

There is rarely one answer, because every person is different. And that's why our care is tailored to every individual's needs.

This Mental Health Month is a reminder that caring for the whole person means looking at the bigger picture.

💬 Which part of your wellbeing could use a little more care right now?

There's often more to a wound than what you can see.

For people living with spinal cord injury and neurological disabilities, wounds can develop for many reasons and often require more than surface-level treatment. Understanding the cause is just as important as treating the wound itself.

This Wound Awareness Week, we're recognising the importance of early assessment, expert clinical care and ongoing support to help prevent complications and support healing.

As a proud Gold Partner of Wounds Australia, we're committed to supporting greater wound awareness throughout the year. If you or someone you support is concerned about a wound, our clinical team is here to help with immediate availability. No Waitlist.

The care our clients and community experience doesn't begin with our services or programs. It begins with the people behind it.

When people feel supported, valued and connected at work, they're better able to create those same experiences for the people and communities they support.

That's why we're incredibly proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work® for the second year in a row.

Thank you to our amazing team for creating a workplace where care extends beyond what we do, to how we work together every day.

What a day! 💙

It was wonderful to be part of the Wheelchair Sports NSW / ACT Roll-a-thon Corporate Challenge, getting together with the community, having a bit of fun and helping raise awareness and support for people with a disability through participation in sport.

And we’re so thrilled to share that Team Forward & BrightSky Australia rolled their way into first place and were also the top fundraisers! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who rolled, cheered us on and supported our fundraising efforts. Most importantly, it was fantastic to come together behind a cause that helps create more opportunities for people with disability to participate in sport.

Here are a few highlights from the day.

Opportunities and access can change the course of someone's life.
This belief is at the heart of why Forward & BrightSky support adaptive sport.

As the Wheelchair Basketball Australia national league wrapped up last month and the Manly Wheel Eagles lifted the trophy, were not just cheering from the sidelines, we were applauding what's possible when people are given an opportunity.

Here's a throwback to our fireside chat with Tom O’Neill-Thorne from the Manly Wheel Eagles, where he shares his journey with wheelchair basketball and what the sport means to him.
