On this day, we remember the historic 1974 strike where 1.7 million workers went on strike under the banner of the All India Railwaymen's Federation. Led by Brother George Fernandes, the President of AIRF, the strike called for an 8 hour working week and fair pay for train workers.

Today, Brother Shivgopal Mishra and Brother Venu Nair stood alongside hundreds of AIRF members to commemorate the courage and strength shown by trade unionists to fight for decent work.
