University of Sydney Toastmasters (USYDTM)

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.

Toastmasters continues to build on its legacy by

providing a strong foundation for the future. Its proven educational program continually evolves to address the needs of the world’s communicators and leaders both today and tomorrow. Toastmasters members learn to tell their story. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback – and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership. They do this by practice and learning skills by filling meeting roles, ranging from giving a prepared or an impromptu speech to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in positive manner, focusing on what was done correctly and what could be improved. Great communicators tend to be great leaders.

Week 3 Meeting – USYD Toastmasters 🎤

Sorry… we don’t have bread to toast and no tasks to “master”. But we do have speeches, new words, laughs, surprises, humour, and new friendships.

All of it brought by the people in the room.

Huge thanks to everyone who took on meeting roles and especially to those brave enough to step onto the stage and give it a go. Those moments made the night memorable.

This is what Toastmasters is about — a space where like-minded people connect, grow, and support each other.

🌧️💙 Rain? Unstable venue? Classic Sydney chaos.
But nothing could stop us from having an amazing Toastmasters night at USYD!

We were so happy to see both new and familiar faces yesterday — especially our brave first-timers jumping into Table Topics 🎤✨
Real nerves. Real laughter. Real growth.
And the best part? Genuine feedback and support from everyone in the room.

Public speaking isn’t a one-night transformation.
It’s a journey. A long one.
But trust us — it’s SO worth it.

To those who came but couldn’t join due to the sudden venue change — we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience 💛 Thank you for your patience!
