Dementia Research Community The Bondi2Berry ride starts in Bondi travelling 155km along the coast finishing in beautiful Berry ra There is no cure.

Organisers Nick and and Pierre have witnessed first hand the effects of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Pierre's mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and Nick's father was diagnosed in 2011. Nick's grandmother passed away after suffering with the disease for more than 10 years. The strain placed on family and close friends is debilitating in itself. Dementia is the second leadi

ng cause of death in Australia. It is a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain, it is not one specific disease. Currently there are more than 350,000 Australians living with dementia. Without a major breakthrough in research, the figure is expected to soar to 900,000 by 2050

This prompted the guys to try and make a difference, and use their passion for bike riding to raise awareness and funds to help get a breakthrough in researching for a cure.

This time last week! The finale of our 45 Hour Challenge at Coogee Surf Club with James Tobin as MC. Over 100 participants kept 6 spin bikes and 1 treadmill going for 45 hours, including our 3 solo riders - Nick Young, Jay Gaffey and Mickey Campbell. Just under 6,000 kms covered and over $50,000 raised for dementia research.
