Palestinian students are often denied access to a safe, well-resourced education by the challenges imposed by the occupation, such as settler harassment and violence, restrictions on travel and checkpoints, attacks on schools and the demolition of school premises. In 2007 Leichhardt Friends of Hebron began building partnerships in the West Bank of Occupied Palestine to assist education projects w
hich support the most disadvantaged students of the Hebron region. In 2016 the new name Friends of Hebron Sydney was adopted to reflect the wider constituency our work has attracted over recent years. We welcome everyone who supports our work. Friends of Hebron Sydney aim to:
Promote human rights as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations and respect international law in the occupied Palestinian lands;
Raise awareness of human rights and humanitarian issues relevant to the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands; and
Raise money for vital community projects in the city of Hebron and surrounding areas.
