Raise Foundation

Raise Foundation Raise significantly improves youth wellbeing by connecting trained and trusted mentors with every young person in Australia who needs one.

Raise provides school-based mentoring programs for young people across Australia. We work with young people to build resilience, help seeking skills, hope for the future and school belonging.

Loneliness is affecting more people than many of us realise, and often, it’s happening quietly beneath the surface of everyday life.

One in three people experience loneliness, with young people among the loneliest age groups. But meaningful connection doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, a simple conversation, shared walk, check-in text or cup of tea can make someone feel seen and supported.

In our latest blog, we share 10 practical ways to combat loneliness, build stronger connections and find your tribe — including:
✨ How to create more meaningful everyday connection
✨ Why small moments matter more than we think
✨ Ways to build community and belonging
✨ The powerful impact of mentoring
✨ Simple steps to strengthen your wellbeing and relationships

At Raise, we see every day how connection can change lives, not only for young people, but for mentors, families and entire communities too.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected lately or want to help create a more connected world around you, this blog is for you.

No young person should feel alone.

Right now, too many teens are struggling with loneliness, disconnection and low confidence. But a mentor can make a life-changing difference.

At Raise, our mentors show up every week to listen, support and remind young people that they matter.

This EOFY, your donation can help us train more mentors and support more young people aged 13–16, and thanks to Canaccord Genuity, every dollar donated will be doubled up to $25,000.

✨ Twice the impact
✨ More young people supported
✨ More connection, confidence and hope

If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference in a young person’s life, now is the time.

A huge shout of thanks.

We thank everyone who dedicated their valuable time and effort to support young people in the Southern Highlands.

Raise’s Brook McGee volunteered her time and led an enthusiastic team to run a sausage sizzle at Mittagong Bunnings recently. They spoke to locals about mentoring, and raised enough to funds to recruit, screen and train 5 more mentors.

Big shout out of thanks to:
Brooke and Pat McGee who put days of work into the fundraiser
Mark Fruend, Pat Cleary and Graham O'Donnel who donated 70kg of sausages
James Brown (Southern Rise Bakery) who donated 40 loaves of bread
Moss Vale Coles who donated a $50 giftcard which covered the condiments for the bbq

Raise volunteer mentor Jane Dummer who organised the sausages, stored them and delivered them on the day
Iain Falshaw, Lisa Long, Martial Cosyn & Stuart Ling (Bowral High and Moss Vale High Mentors) who volunteered their time on the day

It does indeed take a Village to raise a child, and we are so thankful to the people in our Southern Highlands Village who do so much for the local young people.

National Volunteer Week.

At Raise, we’re lucky to work with incredible volunteer mentors who make a meaningful difference in young people’s lives.

One of those mentors is Jack Morgan, who was so inspired by his mentoring experience last year that he’s taken on an extraordinary challenge — the full 1,002km Bibbulmun Track. Hoping to trek the full distance in 23 days, Jack will have completed the equivalent of 23 marathons in that time.

Stretching from Albany to Kalamunda, the Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long-distance walking trails. When asked why he’s undertaking such an extraordinary challenge, Jack said “I decided to combine my passions for trail running, hiking, and being outdoors with fundraising for a cause that really matters to me.”

The first $15,000 donated to Raise will be dollar matched by oneZero Financial Systems. If you'd like to support Jack, you can do so here.

National Volunteer Week

Raise is incredibly grateful to all our volunteers, whether through mentoring or offering their services to us.

Last year, 2,224 mentors volunteer to support young people, and since we began, 11,443 generous souls have ensured young people survive and thrive the challenging early teen years. Raise wouldn’t be able to support as many young people without the help of our community, with many volunteers returning year after year.

And the benefits go both ways.

For mentees, having a mentor can be life-changing, as they feel seen, supported, and heard by a trusted adult. Our mentors learn skills they use in their everyday lives to build better connections and create stronger communities.

Across our post-survey responses from mentors, we hear the same themes year on year around what volunteers gain from being a Raise youth mentor:

-Improved listening, communication, and relational skills

-Greater understanding of young people and youth issues

-Sense of purpose, contribution, and meaning

-Personal growth and self-reflection

-Increased confidence

-Connection and community

-Positive impact on wellbeing

National Day of Connection – 17 June

We’re grateful to our amazing partner Canaccord Genuity who are currently matching all donations up to $25,000 for National Day of Connection. With one month to go before the day, you can donate now and ensure your dollars go twice as far.

Did you know?
All funds raised during National Day of Connection will enable Raise to provide more fully trained and screened mentors to young people around Australia thereby creating twice the connection! Young people and their mentors both benefit by meeting weekly during their mentoring journeys.

Connection is at the heart of everything we do at Raise and we’re glad that our partners Canaccord Genuity are helping us create more positive connections.
