Welcome back to the Raise village, Maggie Dent 💙
We were delighted to welcome Maggie Dent back to the Raise village for a special webinar with our team.
Maggie shared powerful insights from Help Me Help My Teen, reminding us of the vital role trusted adults play in helping young people navigate the teenage years. One message particularly resonated with us: young people need "lighthouses" in their lives. Safe, supportive adults who provide guidance, connection and encouragement when it's needed most.
Hearing Maggie describe Raise mentors as lighthouses was a powerful reflection of the impact our mentors have every day. Through weekly mentoring sessions, they help young people feel seen, heard and valued, proving that sometimes just one conversation really can change a life.
Some of our key takeaways included: ✨ Make young people feel they matter
✨ Relationship safety is essential
✨ Genuine human connection changes lives
✨ Approach young people with calmness, curiosity and compassion
As Maggie beautifully said, "We need to be the stable, steady rails as they cross the bridge from tweens to teens."
We're also excited about Maggie's new book, Digital Freedom, co-authored with Kirra Pendergast, launching on 18 August. Anyone who pre-orders directly through Maggie before then will receive a signed copy and access to a free Q&A webinar with Maggie and Kirra. You can preorder a copy here: https://www.maggiedent.com/product-category/books/
Thank you, Maggie, for continuing to champion young people and for being such a valued part of the Raise village. We're grateful for your ongoing support of mentoring and your belief that every young person deserves a trusted adult in their corner. 💙
