A real-life rescue mission ⬇️

Earlier this year, a targeted operation led to the arrest of seven suspects linked to illegal wildlife trafficking.

Acting on intelligence from a community wildlife monitor, a Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) team, supported by IFAW, rescued two live pangolins and recovered 15kg of pangolin scales.

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world, and among the most threatened. Every rescue matters.

Three of the UWA officers involved in the operation had been trained by IFAW in the safe handling and management of confiscated live wildlife under illegal trade. That training helped ensure both pangolins were carefully secured, cared for, and successfully released back into the wild at Queen Elizabeth National Park. 💛

“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.” – Dr. Jane Goodall

Change doesn’t always start with something big. Sometimes it begins with one small action, whether that's helping an animal in need or speaking up to protect the places they call home. You don’t have to do everything. But you can do something. And that something matters.

Every rescue. Every protected space. Every moment of compassion adds up to something bigger.

At IFAW, we believe every individual animal matters. Together, let's make a difference for each and every one. 💙

Meet Monikuntal 🐘💛

This young Asian elephant calf was recently found trapped in a muddy trench, weak and vulnerable in India. The IFAW-Wildlife Trust of India team rescued him and brought him to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation for specialised care.

Now, he is safe and receiving ongoing treatment at the centre, where dedicated team members are supporting his recovery and rehabilitation journey. 💙

Our IFAW vet Dr Jackie recently joined our partners at Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue Ltd (SKER) to help fill a roster gap while sharing her specialist expertise in koala veterinary care. Within just a few days, she helped establish SKER’s first koala blood bank and supported their first-ever life-saving blood transfusion.

This milestone has already made an immediate difference and is now paving the way for more koalas to receive life-saving transfusions into the future.

This is what partnership looks like: strengthening local capability, sharing knowledge, and ensuring wildlife receives the best possible care when it matters most.

Thank you to the incredible SKER team for your ongoing commitment to Australia’s iconic species.

Tigers are one of the world’s most iconic animals, but ongoing poaching, habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and exploitation for entertainment are pushing this incredible species to the brink of extinction.

That’s why IFAW is working to protect them where it matters most.

In partnership with the Wildlife Trust of India, and with support from Re:wild, the Central India Tiger Corridor Project is helping keep critical forests connected so tigers can move, hunt, and thrive.
