Designed for classification officers, grain merchants, producers and industry professionals, this two-day course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet domestic and export market requirements with confidence.

You’ll gain practical knowledge in:

• Applying Trading Standards for cereals, oilseeds and pulses

• Operating receival sites and storage facilities to industry standards

• Managing weighbridge and documentation processes

• Using equipment and classification techniques correctly and safely

Presented by Gerard McMullen, this workshop provides valuable insights to support grain quality, reduce risk and strengthen compliance across the supply chain.

This interactive workshop is ideal for those with a basic knowledge of GTA Trade Rules, including junior traders, trade assistants and back-office staff. It also provides a valuable refresher for experienced industry professionals looking to stay current with GTA Trade Rules and industry practices.

What’s covered:
• Interpretation of GTA Trade Rules and Contracts
• Applying the rules in real-world trading situations
• Understanding GTA Dispute Resolution – processes, methods and legal authority
• Rights and obligations under GTA Contracts
• Managing key risk areas including conveyancing, delivery, quality rejection and default.

This practical training provides the knowledge and confidence to better understand contractual obligations, manage risk and support effective grain trading practices.

The Grain Storage Assets and Management Standard (GSAMS) Scheme, a government-industry partnership, was officially launched during Australian Grain Industry Conference (AGIC) 2026 in Melbourne.

Grain Trade Australia (GTA) and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) developed GSAMS as an alternative pathway to reinforce Australia’s grain storage and quality assurance framework, GTA said in a July 29 announcement.

“GSAMS is designed to strengthen confidence in grain quality, food safety and phytosanitary outcomes, supporting Australia’s reputation as a reliable supplier of safe and high-quality grain,” GTA said.
