🟧EXTREME FIRE DANGER🟧
Sunday 16th March - 2025

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Sunday 16th March. The Greater Sydney Region is forecast to experience Extreme fire danger with warm, dry and windy conditions.

Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Be ready to act. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

🔸These are dangerous fire conditions.
🔸Check your bush fire plan and ensure that your property is fire ready.
🔸If a fire starts, take immediate action. If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.
🔸Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas.

🚫TOTAL FIRE BAN RULES🚫

➡️ No fires during a Total Fire Ban

➡️ During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.

➡️ General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.

➡️ The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property.

❗️Reminder❗️

✅ Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration.

✅ Avoid Prolonged Outdoor Activities - especially during the hottest part of the day. Seek shade and take regular breaks if you need to be outside.

✅ Slip, Slop, Slap – Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing.

✅ Check on Others – Look out for vulnerable people in our community, including elderly neighbours or those with health conditions.

On Thursday 13th March, we celebrated International Women’s Day with a dinner organized by Neridene Goss Rfs, serving as the Women’s Representative on The Hills District Senior Leadership Team.

Nathan attended as the acting district manager and delivered a speech.
Our guest speaker, Catherine James Rfs, shared a raw and motivational speech that resonated deeply with all attendees.

The evening was filled with laughter, engaging conversations, and a strong sense of community.

Over the weekend, around 450 meals were prepared.

A huge thank you to Hawkesbury Catering for your support and for generously sharing your equipment with us!

It’s always a pleasure collaborating with fellow Catering Brigades, exchanging knowledge, and working together.

Outstanding effort by all involved!

This weekend, our crew headed to The Hills Training Centre in Sackville to provide meals for those attending the course!

A big thank you to Maroota South for assisting with catering on Saturday and Sackville North Rural Fire Service for coming to the rescue with a gas bottle with the correct fitting! (We didnt forget It!)

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of our own.

Ron McDonald was a devoted dual member of The Hills Catering and a proud life member of the North Rocks Rural Fire Brigade.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and our colleagues at North Rocks.

We thank Ron for his unwavering dedication and service. He will be deeply missed.
