In June 2012, said&done produced its premier production, bash: latter day plays by Neil LaBute, at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool to a very encouraging response. By marrying minimal design with a similarly minimalistic approach to storytelling we took our first step in establishing our company as one that delivers extraordinary stories that “pull you in and keep you in a state of quiet contemplation

long after you’ve made your way home.” (The Public Reviews)

In 2013 said&done built upon this success, producing Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling at the Unity Theatre. What's On Stage wrote: "it is always uplifting to come across new, fresh and exciting theatre, and said&done have found a winning formula with strong writers, actors and directors that take theatre to a new and inspiring level." In 2014, said&done co-produced Clybourne Park with Unity Theatre, our most ambitious project to date. Garnering critical acclaim, the company plan to build upon this accomplishment by expanding our audience and exploring the potential for international touring. Artistic Associate, Judith McSpadden, joined the company in Autumn 2014.

We are so very sad to hear of the passing of Graeme Phillips, the wonderful former Artistic Director of unity theatre. Graeme put his trust in us as a small company and provided an environment for us to really experiment on a scale we had only dreamed of. Quietly spoken with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he always welcomed us with warmth and an enthusiasm to talk about new projects. Vale, dear Graeme and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Announcement:

It is with great sadness that we announce that Unity’s former Artistic Director, Graeme Phillips MBE, has died of complications relating to Parkinson’s Disease, which he had lived with for the last 10 years.

Since April, Graeme had been working on a new production of Jean Genet’s The Maids, which is scheduled for performances in Unity’s autumn season.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends, details of which will be released shortly.
