The Charlie Perkins Trust for Children & Students In 2010, the Charlie Perkins Scholarship Trust was formed to administer the Charlie Perkins Scholarships to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

The Charlie Perkins Scholarships are inspired by and in memory of Dr Charles Perkins AO – Australia’s fi rst Indigenous man to graduate from university, who dedicated his life to achieving justice for Indigenous Australians. The Trust was initially set up to assist Australian Indigenous children in the following areas:
- health improvement
- educating and training
- supporting and promoting issues

relevant to Indigenous children. In recent years, the Trust has assisted with or facilitated the funding of:
- a dialysis unit in Kintore in the Northern Territory
- swimming pools in Kintore and Maningrida in the Northern Territory
- prizes for Indigenous students at Sydney University
- an annual oration at the University of Sydney (since 2001). In October 2008, the Trust's role was expanded to include the education of students as well as children, and was renamed the Charlie Perkins Trust for Children & Students.
