Last push to get the quilting finished on my ‘1830s Longcloth Quilt’ and then a binding/edge finishing decision to make.

(I’ve discovered that you may need more information on the cutting guide in the pattern so I will email everyone who has downloaded a pattern for this quilt over the weekend and specify exact cutting measurements for the panels - just so there’s no confusion. The pattern currently gives the “finished size/add seam allowance”. It’s all there - just adding more information in case you need it!)

Here is a ‘blast-from-the-past’ basket quilt. Made about 43 years ago it was about my second quilt, sewn on the machine then hand quilted! King sized, using ordinary calico as the background which has faded over time to the palest ivory. I remember soaking and washing the calico several times before using it.
On the back is a ‘basket-weave’ fabric just to continue with the basket theme! 😉😉
…. And the quilting continues on my 1830s Longcloth Quilt long into the night…..

And it’s starting to look like a quilt!! 2 more blocks to go on my “Dutch Mariners Compass”. These will be shelved for awhile as I go back to finishing the hand quilting on my ‘Longcloth Quilt’
Both patterns are on my website and on website together with templates.

Yesterday we said goodbye to our little stone cottage in Swansea after a fabulous 8 days in Tasmania. Happy with the 4 blocks I made for “Dutch Mariners Compass” quilt and a quick stop on the way to the airport to add some ‘reds’ to the collection! (I hadn’t bought a thing all week!!)

A spot of stitching with appropriate link to the ocean view at Swansea, Tasmania. My ‘Dutch Mariners Compass’ blocks are coming along with 9/12 almost done!
First and second blocks made in Tassie, third made earlier and 4th is the offending “block needing some red”!!
Then there’s the view across to Coles Bay… 🦀🦞🥂🌴
Back home tomorrow after a fabulous holiday!

One down and a fabric decision needed for the next block, as I’m finding the caramel stripe is a bit flat and my block may need a pop of red!! Perhaps it’s being surrounded but the ‘red rocks’ in the Bay of Fires that has me thinking red! Staying at Binalong Bay 🐚🦀🦞Tasmania 💞💞

Not a lot of stitching done in the last day, however I’m keen to continue working on my ‘Dutch mariners compass’ block now that we’ve arrived at our dear little cottage with lovely wood fire
On the way, a visit to , a fab street lined with palm trees 🌴 💞🌴💞🌴 in Launceston, great coffee at the ‘Muddy Boots cafe’, local 😋😋crayfish lunch with a view at Stanley. It’s been a busy couple of days but what strikes me most about Tasmania so far is the beautiful trees and the very green countryside!
