A heartfelt thank you to every young musician who lit up the stage in Melbourne!

A special thank you to Cloud Youth Orchestra Melbourne for introducing the rampant Hirer John Wise, and the sound of music Australian international music competition committee assist with wonderful local musicians who joined this performance, including the talented guzheng player. Your generosity and collaboration made this cross-cultural performance even more meaningful.

A very special thank you to our p**a soloist Chuyi Zhang, who travelled all the way from Brisbane, sharing the beauty and elegance of Chinese music with Melbourne audiences.

We are also incredibly grateful to Alicia Liu from Musicáno Fusion Ensemble Musicáno Fusion Ensemble , who generously lent her personal p**a to make this performance possible, and to Helen, Vice President of the Inner West Youth Orchestra (Inner West Youth Orchestra ), who kindly drove the instrument all the way to Melbourne so Chuyi could perform. Your support behind the scenes meant more than words can express.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to the Sound of Music International Competition somaimc , the dedicated teams at The Edge and Federation Square, and every volunteer and staff member working tirelessly behind the scenes. None of this would have been possible without your incredible support.

We were honoured to introduce Taiwan’s traditional ceremonial whistle horn and the vibrant spirit of the Harvest Festival to the Southern Hemisphere for the very first time, celebrating the richness of Taiwanese Indigenous culture through music.

It was also a proud milestone for our student orchestra as we completed our first interstate tour, sharing music on one of Melbourne’s most iconic stages. Every note represented courage, and every performance marked the beginning of another journey.

Behind every successful performance is the dedication, generosity, and passion of countless people. Thank you to everyone who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life. Together, we proved once again that music has the power to connect cultures, communities, and hearts.

The journey continues, and we look forward to sharing many more stories through music.

We did it! Our first tour with somaimc Done! Thank you Melbourne!

”Double through the Sea“

This performance is not only an intimate dialogue between double bass and piano, but also a celebration of a landmark collaboration. The Australian Chong Zheng Association, together with Inner West Youth Orchestra, Summer Hill Collective, CLC Chinese School, Australian Polytechnic College, and Tasmanian College of English(Sydney Branch) , have joined forces to promote cultural and educational outreach across borders.

Artistic directors and conductors of Sydney’s Inely Ensemble, Musicáno Fusion Ensemble, and Inner West Youth Orchestra – double bassist Elsen Price and pianist Suna Flynn – will present Koussevitzky’s Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra (Movements I & II) in a richly expressive piano-accompanied arrangement. The programme also features new works by contemporary Australian and Taiwanese composers.

Elsen Price has just completed an official studio recording of this concerto; this performance, with its reduced piano accompaniment, distils the fiery passion and delicate lyricism of the Russian masterwork, bringing listeners closer to its emotional core.

This is a charity event – entry by donation – with all proceeds supporting future initiatives of our partnering organisations. We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this unique international connection through the power of music.

What an incredible weekend performance! 🎶✨

Today, our Inner West Youth Orchestra travelled to Killarney Heights, Sydney’s charming French-inspired neighbourhood, to celebrate World Music Day 🌍🎵

This was our second year taking part in this wonderful community festival, where the streets were filled with music, laughter, and sunshine.

We were especially excited to showcase traditional Taiwanese instruments, including the whistle horn, p**a, and erhu. It was also such a joy to share the stage once again with the wonderful violist Rosy after so many years — a true trip down memory lane! Seeing former colleagues, conductors, parents, and students stop by to say hello made it feel like a special musical reunion. My heart is full 💛

Most of all, I’m incredibly proud of our young musicians. Their performance earned continuous applause from the audience, and they truly shone on stage 👏

Can’t express enough how amazing our traditional Taiwanese whistle horn opening was! 🇹🇼🇦🇺
The one and only in Australia right now!

Our incredible brass tutor Max brought all of his trombone skills into the performance — and absolutely nailed it. Totally loved it! You are a star 🌟
