Subsidised Desexing - Post from AWL Western Suburbs Branch

🐾 THE 2026/2027 KITTEN SEASON HAS BEGUN! 🐾

The first kittens of the 2026/2027 kitten season have already landed in our foster program and sadly, we know this is only the beginning.

If you have an undesexed cat — male or female — PLEASE reach out and obtain a subsidised desexing voucher BEFORE you add to the problem.

If you have a stray cat visiting your yard, we can also help you get that cat desexed before one cat becomes a colony.

Animal Welfare League, independent rescue groups and foster carers are already stretched to the limit with animals needing care and new homes. Animal Holding Facilities are also struggling with capacity and are being forced to turn animals away due to a lack of space.

We simply cannot keep up with the number of unwanted cats and kittens being born.

💙 PLEASE DESEX YOUR CATS.
💙 PLEASE DON'T WAIT FOR AN UNWANTED LITTER.
💙 PLEASE BE PART OF THE SOLUTION — NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM.

One desexed cat can prevent hundreds of unwanted cats and kittens from being born over time.

To access a subsidised desexing voucher, please use the link below

Residents in the Penrith, Richmond, Lower Blue Mountains please contact the Hawkesbury Valley : Animal Welfare League NSW - Hawkesbury Valley Branch

Desexing saves lives. Prevention is the answer. 🐾.

On hold 🙏

Charlie is destined for greatness as the snuggliest lap cat in all of South Sydney. It all began living it tough in a residential street in Bexley North. ☺️

He made his life in a small residential street, where he roamed through apartment blocks, dodged street cars, climbed trees and slept on roofs and garage basements enduring all the extremes of the weather, never knowing when his next meal would find him, drinking water from dirty puddles, the idea of warmth, a soft bed and the kindness and love of humans felt so far away.✅

Charlie established himself as the head of a little colony of cats, and he was greatly loved and appreciated by so many of them. Purrs and head bumps greeted him when he made his way through the group.🧸

At feeding time, Charlie, with all the diplomacy of a king, would stand back and allow the younger street cats to eat from his bowl. Never once did he raise a paw or protest as his dinner was quickly devoured by the younger cats. He'd simply move to another bowl, only for the same thing to happen again. Even when he was hungry, his gentle nature meant he never harmed another cat for stealing his food. Watching him care for the cats around him, I knew there was something incredibly special about this gentle kind boy with the cutest large cheeks.😆
Charlie showed me he was a true king of the streets, not because he ruled through strength, but because of the kindness and gentleness he showed to those around him.

I couldn't let him stay out there. I decided no matter what, this boy, would never again have to feel the bitter winter cold or the rain on his fur or the cold concrete floors as he slept. He would never again have to go hungry, wondering where his next meal would come from, or risk his life dodging cars on the street.
Charlie is kind, gentle, loving and confident. He has a huge heart, and after everything he's been through, he would love nothing more than to become a snoozy, lap cat in a loving forever home.🙏

🐱 Meet Polly! 🐱 https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/1203339

Polly is a curious little tabby girl who is looking for her forever home. 💕

Polly and her three siblings were born to a young colony cat in the Bayside Council area. She has come a long way, but she is still a shy little girl.

Once she feels safe, her curious side starts to shine through. With plenty of love and patience, we’re sure she’ll continue to blossom. 🌸🐾

Polly has the sweetest little face and plenty of personality. Just look at those eyes! 😻

If you’re looking to welcome a beautiful kitten into your family, we’d love to hear from you. 💗

Could Polly be the missing little paw in your family? 🐾

Four beautiful rescue kittens are looking for their forever homes.
Born on 2 May 2026, Polly, Digory, Mabel and Kirke are now 11 weeks old and ready to begin the next chapter of their lives.
These kittens were rescued from a street cat colony in Bexley North. Thanks to that rescue effort, they have been given the opportunity every kitten deserves: to grow up safe, loved, and part of a family of their own.
Each kitten has their own unique personality:
Polly enjoys life at her own pace. She has a wonderful appetite and is a peaceful little girl who loves sitting back and watching the world around her.
Digory is a calm little adventurer with a beautiful, gentle nature. He's quietly confident and enjoys exploring while never wandering too far from his people.
Mabel is gentle, curious and playful. She purrs while she plays and is always ready to jump into the next adventure.
Kirke is full of confidence and curiosity. He loves climbing and exploring, has a wonderful appetite, and an even bigger sense of adventure.
The kittens are currently in foster care through PAWS Australia and are:
• Microchipped
• Currently completing their F3 vaccination course
• Booked for desexing
• Raised in foster care with lots of love and care
They are located in Sydney; however, interstate adoption can also be considered for the right home. We'll happily guide successful adopters through every step of the process and provide all the information you'll need.

Adoption fee: $195 per kitten

Our adoption process:
• Adoption application: https://pawsau.streettails.xyz/adopt
• Meet & greet with the foster carer
• Home safety check
• Two-week settling-in period with ongoing support
To learn more about our adoption process: https://pawsau.streettails.xyz/process
We're also looking for compassionate foster carers to help rescued cats and kittens while they wait for their forever homes. If fostering is something you've ever considered, we'd love to hear from you.
If you can't adopt, sharing this post could help these four little kittens find the loving families they're waiting for. Every share makes a difference.

🍭 Meet Kirke! 🍭

Kirke is an absolutely adorable tabby-and-white kitten with huge round eyes, a tiny pink button nose, and the sweetest little face. His bright white blaze, expressive tabby markings and long whiskers give him an irresistibly curious, wide-eyed look that’s sure to melt your heart.

He’s looking for a foster-to-adopt home.

Kirke and his three siblings were born to a young colony cat in the Bayside Council area. They are now ready for families who can give them the time, patience and love they need to grow into confident, affectionate companions.

Kirke is:
🐾 Litter trained
🐾 Healthy
🐾 Shy and still learning to trust people

Kirke isn’t aggressive—he’s simply scared because he’s had very little positive contact with people. At this age, he has an excellent chance of becoming a loving, affectionate companion with gentle handling, patience and daily interaction.

If you’re looking to welcome a kitten into your family and can provide a safe, patient home while Kirke builds his confidence, we’d love to hear from you.

Foster Welcome 🏡

Introducing Teeny Tiny Timmy 🦁
📍 Location: Hoxton Park, NSW

Born at an industrial site beside a busy main road, little Timmy was rescued from a cat colony as freezing temperatures set in and unsafe, dirty conditions worsened. His chances of survival outdoors were very low, but thankfully he arrived healthy and ready for a second chance at life. 🧡

About Timmy 🧡
Teeny Tiny Timmy may be small, but he has a BIG personality! This sweet little ginger boy is very vocal and loves to chat. He enjoys running around, playing, and exploring his surroundings.

Still learning that cuddles are safe, Timmy is becoming more comfortable with affection every day and has adjusted incredibly well to human interaction after life on the streets. He has adapted so quickly and would suit a quiet home while continuing to build confidence in indoor life. A great little companion for first-time pet owners.

✔️ Fine with other cats
❓ Untested with dogs or children
🏠 A playpen is ideal while he is still young and should not be left unattended without security
🚫 MUST be kept indoors — please do not enquire if intending to keep him as an outdoor cat
