South Australia's mid-North is in the grip of a devastating drought, and farming families are doing it tough.

Grain crops in 2024 have been estimated to be 93% below average yield.

Beyond the shortage of livestock feed, the drought has brought heartbreaking hardship to farming families who watch their animals deteriorate while often going without themselves, with mental health impacts felt right across the region.

This Rotary project, in partnership with the Farmers Relief Agency, is raising funds to purchase bales of hay from interstate growers and transport them directly to impacted families.

The South Australian Government's Department of Primary Industries and Regions has committed to covering freight costs to the affected region.

Your donation helps keep livestock alive and farming families on their land.

When disaster strikes, communities need help fast, and they need it to last.

Over decades, RAWCS and Rotary clubs have helped thousands of Australians pick up the pieces after floods, fires, droughts, and more.

Local Rotarians who are already embedded into the communities are ready to respond with knowledge, networks and practical support systems; and are able to identify those in the community who need our help most.

Through the Rotary Australia Relief Fund, RAWCS can launch targeted appeals quickly, ensuring donated funds reach priority relief and recovery projects on the ground. This includes a comprehensive approach to disaster response, with short-term assistance to long-term rebuilding within the community.

When the next disaster comes, your donation means that we have funds at the ready to provide assistance to an Aussie community in need.

Who said doing good can't be a great day out? Volunteers from the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network are rolling up their sleeves, and Rotary is making sure they have everything they need.

The 2026 Longwood bushfires burned over 130,000 hectares across north-east Victoria, destroying 200,000 kilometres of fencing and devastating hundreds of farming properties.

The Rotary Club of Yea has partnered with the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network to coordinate a long-term fencing rebuilding program, funding tools and an on-site supervisor to support volunteer crews working across impacted properties.

This is Rotary at its best: community members helping community members, one fence post at a time. Rebuilding is expected to continue for many months and years, and your donation helps keep the momentum going. Donations are fully tax deductible.

The fences are gone. But for farming families in north-east Victoria, that's only part of what was lost.

When fire moves through a property, within hours, it takes with it not just infrastructure and livestock, but years of work, financial security and a sense of normality that is hard to put into words. The mental health toll of losing so much, so fast, is immense. Watching land you have poured your life into burn and then facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding, can push families to their absolute limits. Recovery isn't just physical and it doesn't happen overnight.

That's why this project supports more than fencing. Donations go towards both the practical rebuilding effort and helping ease the mental health struggles that farming families are experiencing in the aftermath of the fires.

Volunteers coordinated through the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network are out on impacted properties, supported by tools and a site supervisor funded through this RAWCS project. Every fence post replaced is a step towards stability and a reminder to farming families that they are not doing this alone.

Your donation makes both kinds of recovery possible. Donations are fully tax deductible.
