Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards - RESCA

Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards - RESCA Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards recognises Emergency Services for Community Service over and beyond the call of normal duty.

In line with Rotary's motto of "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" - the NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards (RESCA) will recognise Emergency Services for COMMUNITY SERVICE above and beyond the call of normal duty. RESCA aims to uncover and recognise those ‘unsung heroes’ who do a selfless act or provide exceptional service to the community purely for the nobility of their profession and the service

organisation they proudly represent. While individual services have specific internal awards, the NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards is the first time all New South Wales Emergency Services personnel, both a paid and volunteer, will be recognised in a combined awards program. The Awards are endorsed by all seven NSW Emergency Service Organisations. Joint Vice-Regal Patronage is provided by Her Excellency The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC Governor of NSW and Mr Wilson. It is important to note that these very special Awards are not meant to replace the individual Agencies’ own Bravery or Service Awards. The proceeds generated from RESCA benefit two Rotary initiatives:
1. An Australian Rotary Health PhD Research Scholarship investigating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Emergency Service Workers

2. Rotary and RESCA are jointly funding the deployment of a Vocational Training Team, providing disaster preparedness training to developing countries within the Asia Pacific region, with Tonga as the next destination selected.

✨ Let’s recognise the heroes among us.

Fire agencies and land managers are taking advantage of favourable weather this week to undertake a number of hazard reduction burns across the state. More than 3,100 hectares are expected to be treated across the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Illawarra and Greater Sydney areas.

Some localised smoke impacts are expected, particularly at night, with forecast winds expected to help clear this smoke on Friday.

For updates on planned burns, visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/hr or use the Hazards Near Me app. Only call Triple Zero (000) if you see an unattended fire not just if you see or smell smoke.

🌟 Celebrating Community – Bankstown Sports Club 🌟

Community organisations thrive when businesses step forward to support the people who serve others. One outstanding example of this partnership is Bankstown Sports Club, a long-standing supporter of the Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards (RESCA). 🤝

🏆 In 2026, Bankstown Sports Club is a Platinum Sponsor.

Established in 1958, Bankstown Sports Club began as a small meeting place for local sporting groups. 🏉 Over the decades, it has grown into one of Australia’s leading community clubs, supporting dozens of sporting organisations and community groups while providing a welcoming hub for members and visitors.

Today the club offers a wide range of facilities including restaurants 🍽️, cafés ☕, entertainment 🎭, community event spaces, family-friendly activities 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, and convenient access to the adjacent Mercure Hotel Bankstown 🏨. Sport remains at the heart of the organisation, with ongoing support for local sporting clubs and opportunities for community participation.

Membership is open to the community and provides access to the club’s venues, entertainment and member benefits, while helping sustain the club’s strong commitment to community support. 💙

Importantly, Bankstown Sports Club has proudly supported the RESCA Awards through sponsorship for many years, helping Rotary recognise the dedication and bravery of emergency service personnel 🚑🚒👮 who protect and serve our communities every day.

🙏 Thank you, Bankstown Sports Club, for standing with Rotary in celebrating our emergency service heroes, and for hosting the 2026 RESCA in July.
