City Farm Lovers supports the establishment of a City Farm in Sydney Park, St Peters, and other urban farming and sustainability initiatives in Sydney. A City Farm is a place where we can come together as a community to grow food (using organic principles), learn about environmentally sustainable practices and more. City Farms are vibrant centres of learning and community participation for childre

n and adults, and showcase best practice eco designs modelled on other city farm projects around the world. We are a group of dedicated volunteers whose purpose is to generate support for city farms and urban sustainability in Sydney. We started as the Sydney City Farm Community group in 2007, and approached City of Sydney in 2009 with the idea of setting up a City Farm in the Sydney LGA. We supported all the stages that have led to the establishment of the City Farm in Sydney Park and wound up this organisation in August 2015, when we were sure the City Farm in Sydney Park would go ahead.

Greening carparks in Japan!

In Japan, they have begun the installation of floating gardens on the roofs of public parking lots, turning these areas into green spaces. These gardens not only beautify the urban setting, but they also provide crucial habitats for bees and other pollinators, essential for biodiversity.

This green initiative seeks to mitigate the effects of concrete in cities, offering a wildlife refuge and improving air quality. Parking lot gardens represent a step forward towards urban sustainability, highlighting the importance of nature in urban spaces.

Hi this is a great local event created by the Barton Reconciliation Action Group - a Resilience Walk walk from historic Tempe House to Girraween Park, following Wolli Creek and stopping along the way to hear stories of Resilience and Survival. We will learn about Aboriginal warriors and custodians who cared for the waters and land, Chinese market gardeners, and mangroves, trees and bats! Tickets cover historian fees and a BBQ at the end!
