Did you know the Working Holiday Maker (WHM) visa just went up 25% to $840 from 1 July 2026?! And the fee for the 2nd and 3rd year visa (previously free) is now a whopping $1,000!

The Backpacker & Youth Tourism Advisory Panel (BYTAP), supported by AQ, YTNSW and YTV, have put out this media statement and are seeking a meeting with the Federal Tourism Minister to raise our industry’s concerns, particularly in terms of how this could impact on regional Australia, being highly dependent on WHMs to work in tourism, hospitality and agriculture.

YTNSW Secretary winner of youth sector development scholarship!

Tourism Australia, in conjunction with the Backpacker & Youth Tourism Advisory Panel (BYTAP) and the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), is pleased to announce the winner of the youth-sector development scholarship, Nora Kisser, Guest Services Manager at Millett Group’s Wake Up! Hostels in Sydney, who also serves in a voluntary capacity as Youth Tourism NSW’s Secretary.

Designed to increase distribution engagement as well as develop the capability of a future leader in the sector, Nora will receive a one-year ATEC membership for Millett Group, a place in the ELITE program including mentoring and attend ATEC Meeting Place later this year. Further details on the ELITE program are available here.
