Twelve months ago, our Melbourne event backed three very different ideas: a packaging machine, a boxing gym, and a newspaper printed for 96 prisons.
The Big Umbrella used the funding to get 500 meals to people experiencing homelessness through a new vending initiative. Left Write Hook delivered an 8-week trauma-informed recovery program in Port Melbourne that stretched further than planned, reaching 45 survivors across a second program in Preston. And About Time kept 12 editions of its newspaper reaching incarcerated people in every state and territory.
David, an inmate in NSW, put it simply: being published in About Time means being "recognised again as fully human, capable of thought, creativity, and contribution."
That's the final chapter of our Equity & Inclusion 2025 impact report series, nine organisations backed by one incredible year of support.
