MacKillop Seasons

MacKillop Seasons MacKillop Seasons help build the wellbeing and resilience of communities following adversity.

MacKillop Seasons' programs aim to strengthen the social and emotional well being of people who are experiencing major life changes and losses such as death, separation and divorce by supporting them to explore the impact of change and loss on everyday life and to learn new ways to respond. Written by Professor Anne Graham and built upon J William Worden’s theory of grief, our flagship program Sea

sons for Growth is an innovative grief and loss education program that uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the experience of grief. Our education programs are evidence based, and many external evaluations over the years have continued to affirm Seasons for Growth and its contribution to the lives of people touched by loss and grief. Throughout its 20 year lifespan the Seasons for Growth Children and Young People’s Program has gone through three iterations to incorporate new evidence and ensure that it continues to provide a relevant and highly valued experience for participants. Over its lifetime, over 200,000 children and young people have participated in the Seasons for Growth Program, along with thousands of adults.

🦉 That's a wrap on ! 🦉

What a valuable opportunity to learn, connect and share alongside others committed to building stronger, more resilient communities.

Over the course of the conference, our incredible Resilience Team connected with practitioners, researchers and community leaders, listening to their experiences and learning from conversations focused on community-led resilience, recovery and the voices of young people.

We were proud to share how Stormbirds supports children and young people impacted by disaster, helping them navigate change, loss and grief while fostering connection, resilience and recovery within their communities.

💙 A highlight was connecting with so many passionate people and hearing innovative approaches to preparedness, response and recovery. We were also delighted to meet Dr Alexandra Howard, Director of Disasters and Public Health Emergencies at Phoenix Australia.

🦉Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their insights and connected with our team. Together, we're creating communities where children, young people and families are supported before, during and after disaster.

🚶‍♀️💛 This September, the MacKillop Seasons team is taking part in the Out of the Shadows Walk to support World Su***de Prevention Day and stand alongside those impacted by su***de.

The walk encourages Australians to walk 9km in honour of the 9 Australians who die by su***de every day, while raising awareness, connection and hope.

At MacKillop Seasons, we know that supporting young people through change, loss and grief matters. Through Seasons for Life, we help secondary schools build social and emotional skills, coping strategies, connection and belonging, all recognised as important protective factors for mental health and wellbeing.

“One of the most powerful things Seasons for Life provides is connection. It gives young people a safe space to share their experiences, build coping skills and realise they are not alone.”
– Seasons for Life Trainer
Together, we walk to remember those lost, support those affected, and help create communities where young people feel connected, supported and hopeful.

💛 Join us as we step out of the shadows and walk for connection, compassion and hope.

🖤💛❤️ 4 August | National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

Today we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day and the strength that comes from culture, community, family and Country.

At MacKillop Seasons, we acknowledge that culture, Country and connection are central to healing. Through life's seasons of grief, loss and change, culture provides strength, belonging and a way of keeping Spirit strong.

We honour the voices, strengths and bright futures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and celebrate the families, Elders and communities who help keep culture strong and children thriving.
