Hello lovely people 👋😊

Our Kindness Hampers have been updated to reflect our change in focus from “a whole lot of kindness” back to where it all began: children, and people and families in our community who are quietly falling through the cracks.

Here are the hampers we will now have available for health professionals to request on behalf of their clients…

🧸 The Baby & Toddler Kindness Hamper
Suitable for children from newborn to 3 years of age.
Includes clothing, everyday necessities such as baby wipes and bottles, as well as soft toys, wraps, cosy baby blankets, and age‑appropriate toys to support comfort and early development as little ones grow.

🎨 The Creative Kids Kindness Hamper
Suitable for children aged 4 to 12 years of age.
Includes age‑appropriate books to inspire a love of stories, engaging toys that promote learning through play, and arts and crafts materials that invite creativity and self‑expression.

🥫 The Food Kindness Hamper
Suitable for adults and children.
Includes a carefully selected range of shelf‑stable food items chosen for practicality, longevity, and ease of use, helping to ensure families have what they need during challenging times.
If you are a Sydney-based health professional in need of these items for your clients, please head over to projectkindness.com.au and fill in a referral form to request some kindness.

Solitary confinement is a horrific form of punishment used in prisons. Meanwhile, vulnerable members of our community often go weeks without talking to another person, experiencing a form of solitary confinement within their own homes.

These may seem like vastly different scenarios, but the negative mental and physical health effects that stem from lack of human connection are the same whether you’re in a cell or in your living room.

Part of our support at ProjectKindness is based around simply being there, consistently, for community members who otherwise live in isolation.

Visit us at our community outreach van for a chat. We are in the Waterloo area most Mondays from 3:30pm-4:30pm 💖

Ten years ago, ProjectKindness began with a simple dream: that every child would feel celebrated on their birthday, and that every family would have Christmas decorations to help make Christmas magical.

What started small has grown beyond anything I could have imagined. Together, we have transformed ProjectKindness into a service that wraps a whole lot of kindness around a whole lot of people.

Over the past year, however, we have learned something important. To truly create lasting change, we must be willing to evolve - and sometimes, that means reassessing and doing it better.

We are intentionally shifting our focus from “a whole lot of kindness” back to where it all began - children, and people and families in our community who are quietly falling through the cracks. Think less household items and more essential food items, toys, wipes, and love. This change will take effect once our current stock of items are exhausted over the next few weeks.

As we step into this next chapter, I am planning for, and truly believing in, extraordinary things. Extraordinary might look like being able to say yes more often when agencies and families reach out for help, introducing more, much‑needed outreaches to people who are yearning for support or where every child’s needs are seen, heard, and met.

Collection of the Kindness Hampers will continue to be from our Kindness Hub at 602 Botany Road, Alexandria on Mondays from 2pm to 3pm or Tuesdays at 11am, or from Outreaches on Monday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

Your support has always been the backbone of this journey. I hope you will continue walking beside us as we step into this exciting new chapter.

With gratitude,
Clementine Riley

Last year, we had the privilege of helping a man who had been homeless for a number of years.

In the days following him being given the keys to his own DCH housing unit, we helped fill his new home with blankets, cups and glasses, cutlery, bedding, a kettle, groceries, plates and bowls, pots and pans, a toaster, towels, and other basics.

This kindness we are able to provide doesn’t happen without the support of our donors and community spreading the word about who we are and what we do.

If you’re part of that, we cannot thank you enough 💖
