Today, ActionAid commemorates the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose fight for justice led to the landmark 1992 High Court decision that recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples rights to land and waters.

Lewa Pakoa from Vanuatu Young Women for Change and Shifting the Power Coalition, which ActionAid is proud to be a member of, shared with us how young in Vanuatu are impacted by the climate crisis.

"It disrupts the education system for young women and girls during cyclones. They don't go to school. And then if a cyclone destroys the school, it leads to lack of job opportunities in the future."
