If a 12 year old can understand that stealing, assault, arson and carrying a weapon are wrong, should prosecutors still have to prove that child understood serious violence was morally wrong before criminal liability can apply?

In the sexual assault case, the offender had lived in Australia for only six months, and the judge considered his limited understanding of Australian social norms among the factors affecting moral culpability.

If democratic socialism promises greater equality and more government funded essentials, who ultimately pays for those promises, and why do political leaders still enjoy privileges far beyond those of ordinary taxpayers?
Zohran Mamdani openly says he governs as a democratic socialist and supports a larger government role in housing, childcare and transport, but critics argue that higher taxes, greater bureaucracy and redistribution can weaken incentives while political leaders themselves continue to enjoy the salary, status and benefits of high office.
