Tricia at Shellharbour Public School recently reached her seven years volunteering milestone. She was presented with her certificate and pin by fellow volunteer Christine King.
In Chris' words: "She was totally surprised and it brought tears to her eyes. I gave her a thank you from Primary Ethics and all the children she has taught over the years"

This just reiterates why these recognition awards are so important- we can't thank our volunteers enough for everything they do each week!

We acknowledge David Gonski's positive comments about ethics education in primary schools in NSW at the public hearing of the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion on 18 August.

Primary Ethics has been delivering a world-class, expertly written ethics curriculum for over 15 years as a provider of Special Education in Ethics to NSW public schools. Our program helps students in Kindy to Year 8 develop the skills of critical thinking, ethical reasoning, respectful discussion and civil disagreement.

Our curriculum includes lessons on over 100 topics including on human rights, community, culture, identity, beliefs, tolerance and respect. We applaud the efforts of thousands of trained volunteers who deliver these ethics lessons with care and impartiality in classrooms across NSW throughout the school year.

Primary Ethics is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that does not receive government funding and is supported by donations from the community.

The author of the seminal Gonski review into education funding has told the royal commission that antisemitism education should begin in preschool.

Congratulations to Phil, our amazing volunteer at Wollongong Public School on completing seven years of volunteering with us.
Seven years of interesting conversations, hundreds of children guided towards thinking, reasoning and making (sometimes) difficult decisions.

10 years of volunteering- Myat Binet

Today, we celebrate Myat, who, like most volunteers started off teaching her own children at their Western Sydney school.
Myat says, "I started teaching PE as I wanted my children to have an alternative lesson to non scripture. I really enjoyed watching and hearing the kids think and give reasons to the ethical questions and dilemmas. Coming from a teaching background, I had to hold my tongue and not give MY opinions but has helped with behaviour management. Both my kids are in high school now but I continue to enjoy teaching the new crop of curious minds. "

Our new ethics coordinator at Jamberoo Public School has certainly hit the ground running!

Earlier this month, Ros spoke at the school's P&C meeting, helping raise awareness of the Primary Ethics program within the local community. She also had the pleasure of presenting Carolyn with her three-year volunteer pin and certificate—a wonderful milestone to celebrate.

It's an exciting term for the Jamberoo ethics team, and we're looking forward to seeing the program continue to grow. Congratulations to Carolyn on three years of volunteering, and thank you, Ros, for bringing such enthusiasm to your new role!

Here's a picture of our amazing Gerringong Public School volunteers.

Lorraine Peade (7 years) and Sandra Brigden (3 years), also ethics coordinator, received their volunteering milestone awards late last month, presented by another volunteer at the school, Roirda Harper(not pictured)

We hear this was a happy surprise for both ladies- as we can tell from their smiling faces.
