Cars For Hope The official page of Cars For Hope - the automotive enthusiast mental health initiative.

We are a different kind of mental health charity - we’re 100% funded by car enthusiasts on a mission to drive towards the end of mental health stigma. Established in 2011, the Cars For Hope charity organisation is a non-profit movement of passionate automotive enthusiasts who are dedicated to driving hope towards those suffering from depression, anxiety, self-injury and raising awareness of the issues surrounding mental illness to the Australian public. Mental illness in Australia and around the world is still greatly misunderstood. Millions of people are directly affected by mental illness, however people often avoid talking about how they are feeling in fear of how they may be perceived by others. Cars For Hope advocates regular conversation about mental health and hopes to incite discussion of these issues more frequently between families, friends and loved ones. Through our website, social media network and at automotive-based events Cars For Hope strives towards: educating the community about the importance of mental health and; reinforcing the importance of and providing a means of seeking professional help for those who may be suffering from mental illness.

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we’re launching this year’s message: Reasons to stay alive.

Inspired by our car community, this campaign reminds people that their lives matter, their stories are worth fighting for and it’s always okay to ask for help.

Help us share that message. Start a conversation online, at a car meet, around the dinner table or at the racetrack. You never know who might need to hear that they’re not alone.

“I’m a lucky person because at the age of 47, things are not over yet”

Alex Zanardi passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 59.

This is his story.
But there are millions of Cars For Hope stories.
