We empower current and future generations of young people to be mentally healthy through peer-to-peer programs in schools and universities. 🐘🌟💙 Through sharing lived experience stories and peer-to-peer education, we are keeping young people from reaching the point of crisis, and changing lives. We empower young people with the confidence and skills to get through times and look out for each other.

We work to create stigma-free communities that champion young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Our vision is a world where all young people lead mentally healthy and fulfilling lives. To find out more about our programs and workshops, visit batyr.org.au or email us at [email protected]

Nearly 1 in 4 high school students know someone who has died by su***de.
More than 1 in 3 experience suicidal ideation.
And 50% have supported someone through suicidal thoughts.

This shouldn’t be normal for young Australians - but right now, it is.

That’s why we exist. Every day, we work with young people in schools, universities and communities across Australia to create more conversations about mental health, share stories of hope, reduce stigma, and help young people reach out earlier. 💙

And in just ONE WEEK, we’re coming together live to support that work!

Join us on YouTube for batyr’s Giving Day livestream as we hear from our team, lived experience storytellers, special guests like , and the incredible community helping make this all possible 🐘

🚨Most importantly - for 24 hours only on June 11, every donation will be TRIPLED, meaning your impact goes three times as far for young people across Australia. 💥

We can’t wait to share this day with you! 🫶

Pinterest has just shared new insights from the Pinterest Impact Fund on youth wellbeing and we're honoured that batyr's work is part of that story.

We know that stigma still stops too many young people from speaking up about their mental health. In an average Australian classroom of 30 students, seven are dealing with a mental health issue, but only two will seek help. That's five young people suffering in silence.

Innovation has a real role to play in changing that. Through our suite of digital services including OurHerd platform and our partnership with Pinterest, we're bringing relatable, stigma-free mental health support to the spaces where young people already go to find inspiration, calm, and connection.

We're grateful to Pinterest for investing in organisations on the ground doing preventative work and for using their platform to champion youth wellbeing at scale.

Hey there, batyr, look how far we’ve come… 🥺

Looks like we will need to get more storage, because these memories are staying with us forever! From the first stories shared to thousands of young people using their voice to change the conversation around mental health. 💙

Ever felt like your story could actually change something… but didn’t know where to start? That’s where Being Herd comes in 💙

Our free Being Herd training is all about backing young people to turn lived experience into real impact by building the skills, confidence, and support to speak up and challenge stigma. Your personal experience could be that story of hope for someone else who’s currently struggling with their mental health.. Your voice isn’t “too much” or “not enough”; it deserves to be heard.

If you’ve ever wanted to use your story to make a difference (on your terms, safely and supported) then this is your sign 👀

We’ve seen this trend doing the rounds and we had to join! While we can appreciate a good meme, we also wanted to share some important convos we’ve been having recently alongside our global counterparts in the mental health and non-profit sector. 🌏

Our CEO Pat Darcy and Head of Major Gifts and Philanthropy Lucy Steggles hit New York for the NEXUS Global Summit, joining 500+ changemakers tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges 🗽

We spoke on building a tech future that actually puts people first, diving into youth mental health, AI, online safety, and what young people really need.

From the United Nations to the Clinton Global Initiative, we connected with global partners, funders, and fellow Aussie leaders all working towards real impact 🤝

Proof that youth voices belong in every room where decisions are being made 💙

Today is 💙

Too often, is misunderstood through fear, stereotypes, or sensationalised media portrayals - rather than through the voices of people with lived experience.

We don’t always notice how much pressure, comparison or “shoulds” can shape our choices. Before you say yes to something, it can help to pause and check in with yourself - especially during busy times, or when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

This is a simple reminder to slow things down a little: to notice how you actually feel, what you need right now, and whether something is adding to your wellbeing or taking away from it. 💙
