This World Humanitarian Day, we recognise the people who show up when others need them most.

We honour the humanitarian workers delivering essential support, protecting people forced to flee and helping communities rebuild, often in the most challenging circumstances.

We also remember our colleagues who have lost their lives while helping others. Their courage reminds us what it means to stand with humanity.

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake has hit communities across Colombia, leaving more than 250 people dead and many families without homes.

Among those affected are people who had already been forced to flee because of violence and conflict. Now, they are facing yet another crisis.

UNHCR is on the ground and ready to scale up support as the full extent of the damage continues to emerge.

For people forced to flee, the answer isn’t always simple.

When you've had to leave everything behind and start again somewhere new, having a place to call home, and a place to belong, can never be taken for granted.

If you completed your Census, take a moment to think about those who don't have that same certainty.
