Help keep teenagers in the game.

A missed pass. A frustrated player. A quiet teenager on the edge of the group. How a coach responds can shape a young person’s confidence, enjoyment and willingness to keep coming back.

For clubs, player retention is closely connected to creating an environment where teenagers feel safe, valued and involved.

Youthsafe’s 'Coaching Teens' enhances existing coaching qualifications with practical communication, mentoring and relationship skills. It helps coaches build trust, give constructive feedback, recognise disengagement and encourage players to speak up about injury or wellbeing.

The free online course is a useful addition to coach induction or ongoing development, with face-to-face workshops also available for clubs and associations.

Our blog explores the everyday coaching decisions that can help teenagers stay connected to their sport.

A short, self-paced online session designed for community coaches working with players roughly in the 13–18 age range, across any sport.

727 KILOMETRES. 11 DAYS. SIX RIDERS. ONE PURPOSE. 🚴

From the early rain to the final arrival in Busan, our riders kept each other moving through mountain climbs, punctures and roadside repairs—with plenty of good humour along the way.

This look back on our ride brings the journey together in Warren’s own words: the challenges, the warm welcomes and the friendships behind every kilometre.

Thank you to Warren, Cale, Mark, Christina, Reg and Nick—and to everyone who donated, shared an update or cheered the team on. You’re part of this story too.

**The ride is complete. The work continues.**

Donations are still open. Your support will help Youthsafe develop and deliver bicycle and e-bike safety education and resources for young Australians, building the knowledge and consideration that make roads and shared paths safer for everyone.

Watch the journey. Share this video. And, if you can, donate today.

727 KILOMETRES. 11 DAYS. SIX RIDERS. BUSAN—WE MADE IT! 🚴🎉

Warren and the team have arrived safely in Busan, completing their Seoul to Busan ride for safer young lives.

The final day brought shady paths, colourful gardens and a chance to reflect on the people who made this journey possible—their good humour, determination and support for one another.

To Warren Johnson, Cale Johnson, Mark Bridges, Christina Zantiotis, Reg Woodleigh and Nick Goddard: thank you for every kilometre and for getting behind Youthsafe’s work.

And to everyone who donated, shared an update or encouraged the riders along the way: you’re part of this achievement too.

We’ve raised $8,600 towards our $10,000 target—just $1,400 to go.

Your donation supports Youthsafe’s bicycle and e-bike safety education and resources for young Australians, helping build safer shared spaces for riders, pedestrians and drivers.

DAY 10: ONE MORE DAY TO BUSAN. 🚴

Another 72 kilometres along the beautiful Nakdong River, and Warren and the team have reached the penultimate day of their journey.

Today’s update brings riverside scenery, Korea’s enthusiasm for park golf, a shared meal—and a grateful mention of the public toilets along the route! After ten days in the saddle, those little things count. 😊

Warren also reflects on why cycling safety education matters from an early age: understanding road rules, developing riding skills, caring for your bicycle and recognising risks.

Helping young Australians build that knowledge is what this ride is supporting.

With just one riding day remaining, please help the team finish strongly. Your donation supports Youthsafe’s bicycle and e-bike safety education and resources.

Watch our Day 10 update, share the journey and donate if you can.

DAY 9: OUR BIGGEST DAY IN THE SADDLE. 🚴🍂

95 kilometres from Daegu to Namji-ri brought Warren and the team along the beautiful Nakdong River, past a Buddhist temple and through landscapes glowing with autumn colour.

With 625 kilometres now behind him, Warren shares a striking observation: he’s used his warning bell just four times.

His reflection is that good cycling infrastructure works hand in hand with awareness, consideration and people looking out for one another.

That shared responsibility is at the heart of why we’re riding—and the culture Youthsafe wants to help build for young Australians.

Watch our Day 9 update for the scenery, the people and the purpose behind this journey.

Your donation supports Youthsafe’s bicycle and e-bike safety education and resources. As we approach Busan, please help us turn these kilometres into support for safer young lives.

DAY 8: A FEW DEFLATING MOMENTS. PLENTY OF TEAM SPIRIT. 🚴

An 83 km ride from Nakdong to Daegu brought Warren and the team’s journey to more than 530 km—but this day tested more than their legs.

A puncture, an incompatible valve and another tyre’s slow leak meant roadside repairs, a search for garage assistance and regular stops to check the pressure.

Through patience, teamwork and a little humour, they reached Daegu just before sunset.

Every kilometre is helping raise funds for Youthsafe’s bicycle and e-bike safety education for young Australians.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve reached 80% of our $10,000 fundraising target. Help us close that final 20%.

Watch the update, share their story and donate if you can. Every contribution is appreciated.

Day 7: 66 km, autumn views and a few hills that had us off the bikes! 🚴

From Hahoe Village to Nakdong, today’s ride brought beautiful river scenery and the first blushes of autumn. It also brought rough tracks and steep gradients that saw everyone dismount—with varying degrees of grace! 😄

A stop at the Sangju Bicycle Museum revealed more than 200 years of bicycle history, including some wonderfully unusual designs.

As we continue towards Busan, our purpose stays the same: supporting Youthsafe’s bicycle safety education for young Australians.

Watch our Day 7 update, and if you can, please help with a small donation. Thank you to everyone following along, sharing our story and supporting the ride.

Day 6: a broken chain, teamwork and a memorable detour 🚴🔧

A roadside repair put our riders’ teamwork to the test! With some handy work from the team’s resident engineer, they were back on the road after an hour’s delay.

Their destination was Hahoe Folk Village, where they arrived in time for a traditional performance. Staying overnight also gave them the chance to enjoy the village beautifully lit after dark.

These shared experiences—and the people helping each other along the way—are becoming a special part of the journey.

The purpose remains the same: Cycling for Safer Young Lives, raising funds for Youthsafe’s cycling and road safety education for young people.

Thank you for following, encouraging and supporting the team. ❤️

As the riders remind us: it’s never too late to donate.
