Like many rare diseases, gallbladder and bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages as they don’t usually cause symptoms.

However, if there are symptoms, they may include:

• abdominal pain, often on the upper right side

• nausea (feeling sick) or vomiting

• jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), causing dark urine (wee), pale bowel movements (poo)

• general weakness or fatigue

• a lump in the abdomen

• unexplained weight loss

• a constant itch

• fever

If you're concerned about any of these, speak to your GP or call 13 11 20 to speak to one of our specially trained support staff. 📞

“After losing a mother, a brother, a husband and a son – how does life go on?”

That’s the question Sophie asked herself after cancer repeatedly impacted her family 💛

But for Sophie, the answer was clear: to give back and make a difference.

"Before my son Sam died, I made a promise to him to make people more aware about melanoma and prevention. It’s now a passion of mine,” Sophie recalls.

Sophie has supported a range of Cancer Council events, and has recently started her own Do It For Cancer knitting fundraising initiative called Cosy Cuppa Batemans Bay 🍵

“The services that Cancer Council provides, the research they fund, it just gives me hope that, in the future, with the money that’s raised, this evil disease called cancer will be no longer, and we can live in a cancer-free world. That would be wonderful.”

By hosting a Do It For Cancer fundraiser, you’re helping support people like Sophie, and the 1 in 2 Aussies impacted by cancer 💛

Ovarian cancer can be hard to detect early. There are often no obvious signs - however, there might be one or more of the signs or symptoms above.

These symptoms can be caused by other conditions, but if you’re experiencing any of them, especially if they’re new, persistent, or unusual, contact your GP.

💛 From a small get-together to $80,000 raised!

Our amazing fundraiser Bree Stevens has once again wowed us with her much-loved Girls’ Night In for !

What started as a gathering of 20 friends has grown into a 10-year tradition, with over 100 guests coming together in 2025 to donate $80 each, replacing a usual night out, with every dollar raised supporting Australians impacted by cancer. 🙌

“The night has grown so much over the years, but the heart of it has always stayed the same,” says Bree. “It’s about coming together, remembering why we started, and doing something meaningful for cancer support.”

A huge thank you to the AMP Foundation for their matched funding support this year.

Not sure what to ask Santa for for Christmas this year? Or maybe you just want less clutter? 🎄

Why not do donations instead of gifts! 🎁

The holiday season should always be joyful, but instead this year, it's going to be so tough for people affected by cancer.

You can help by giving up your gifts to help tackle cancer.

School holidays = more time outdoors. ☀️🏖️🍖

Whether you and your family are hitting the skate park, or the beach, doing school camps, or meeting friends over the festive period, now is the perfect time to revise those all-important sun-safety steps.

If the UV is 3 or above (check the SunSmart app or your fave weather app), you and your family will need to use sun protection. Which means...

👕Slip on a loose, long-sleeved top (or rashie if swimming) and clothing that covers as much skin as possible.

🧴Slop on SPF50+ on all exposed skin.

👒Slap on a hat with a big brim which covers the face, ears, and neck.

🏖️Seek shade where possible.

🕶️Slide on sunnies to protect your eyes,

Remember that UV reflects off water as well so it's important to use all 5 forms of sun protection. 💛
