Not sure what to ask Santa for for Christmas this year? Or maybe you just want less clutter? 🎄

Why not do donations instead of gifts! 🎁

The holiday season should always be joyful, but instead this year, it's going to be so tough for people affected by cancer.

You can help by giving up your gifts to help tackle cancer.

School holidays = more time outdoors. ☀️🏖️🍖

Whether you and your family are hitting the skate park, or the beach, doing school camps, or meeting friends over the festive period, now is the perfect time to revise those all-important sun-safety steps.

If the UV is 3 or above (check the SunSmart app or your fave weather app), you and your family will need to use sun protection. Which means...

👕Slip on a loose, long-sleeved top (or rashie if swimming) and clothing that covers as much skin as possible.

🧴Slop on SPF50+ on all exposed skin.

👒Slap on a hat with a big brim which covers the face, ears, and neck.

🏖️Seek shade where possible.

🕶️Slide on sunnies to protect your eyes,

Remember that UV reflects off water as well so it's important to use all 5 forms of sun protection. 💛

So many of us will be catching up with friends and family over the next few weeks.

Rather than exchanging gifts, why not help the almost 1 in 2 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85?

Turn your Friendsmas lunch or family gathering into a fundraiser to help tackle cancer and support those who need it most.

A shoutout to the very special community volunteers of Bribie Island, Queensland! 🩷🏌️‍♀️

Earlier this year, the community celebrated the return of the island's much-loved charity golf event. Since the event's beginning 5 years ago, this community have raised more than $100,000 for lifesaving cancer research, prevention and support programs 🔬

Decked out in shades of pink, volunteers led by Judy Lee (President), Debbie Thorpe and Nikie Day once again showed their unwavering dedication to ensuring all Queenslanders living with cancer have access to the support and care they need 🩷

They carry on the legacy of Karen Highlands, who started the tradition in 2019 amidst her own cancer experience, and demonstrate to us all the extraordinary impact of community volunteering. ✨🌷

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who gave so generously of their time and money - because of you, we will continue to be there for all those impacted by cancer, every step of the way 🩷

The link between alcohol and cancer is real.

Even drinking small amounts of alcohol increases your cancer risk. The more you drink, the greater the risk. If you choose to drink, we recommend you follow the National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines and limit your intake to no more than 10 standard drinks a week and no more than 4 standard drinks on any one day. Also, be aware if you choose to drink and you're a smoker you will increase your risk further.

Here are some ways you can limit your alcohol intake:

👉Choose low alcohol drinks or try spritzers (wine and soda or mineral water).

🍋Alternate alcoholic drinks with water or fruit-based drinks

🥛Use water to quench thirst and sip alcohol slowly

🤚Wait until your wine glass is empty before topping up to keep count of your drinks

🍝Eat some food when you drink. But... it's best to avoid salty snacks that make you thirsty and can make you drink more.
