Hello South West Christian Church family! 👋

We hope you're having a wonderful week, and we can't wait to gather together again this Sunday. 💙

🎤 This Sunday, 11 October
We're excited to welcome Ps Kaine Reinking as our visiting minister. Bring a friend along!

📖 Last Sunday's Message: When The Work Stops
Key Scriptures: Ezra 4, Mark 4:35-41, Zechariah 4:6

We looked at what happens when the work God has called us to suddenly stalls. The returning exiles had laid the foundation of the Temple, then faced lies, accusations and fear, and the building stopped for the reigns of three kings. Opposition is a normal part of almost every story in the Bible, but it doesn't mean God has abandoned the project. In Mark 4, Jesus was in the boat the whole time, even in the storm. Fear is normal, but it doesn't have to stop the building. Whether it's a business, a relationship, a calling or a season of faith, don't listen to the lies and don't stop building.

💡 Main Takeaways:

Opposition doesn't mean God has left.
Fear is normal, but it doesn't have to stop us.
We get through stalled seasons by trusting whose work it is, not by trying harder.
A stalled season is not a finished season.

✨ Encouragement for the week
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." (Philippians 1:6)

Whatever you've been building, keep going. God is in the boat with you. 🙏

See you Sunday! 💛

Facebook Weekly Update

Hi Church Family! 👋

It was wonderful to gather together again this Sunday as we continued looking at the Fruit of the Spirit, focusing on Gentleness.

🌱 Sunday’s Message — Gentleness

Gentleness is often misunderstood as weakness, passivity or timidity, but Scripture presents something very different. Gentleness is strength under control—strength submitted to God and used to lift others up rather than tear them down.

From Galatians 5:22–23, we were reminded that gentleness is part of the unified fruit produced by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself described His heart as “gentle and humble” (Matthew 11:29). Gentleness becomes particularly evident when we are under pressure, challenged, criticised or dealing with difficult people.

We were also reminded that gentleness isn't something we manufacture by simply trying harder. As John 15:4–5 teaches, we bear fruit by remaining connected to Christ. When we abide in Him, the Holy Spirit works in us, helping us respond with grace rather than anger, restraint rather than retaliation, and truth with gentleness and respect.

Gentleness is proven in the rough. 🙏

📖 Key Scriptures

• Galatians 5:22–23
• Matthew 11:29
• Ephesians 4:2
• Galatians 6:1
• 1 Peter 3:15–16
• John 15:4–5
• Galatians 5:16

💡 Main Takeaway

Gentleness is not weakness—it is Spirit-produced strength under God's control.

Hello Church Family! 😊

We pray you’ve had a blessed week. We’re looking forward to gathering together again this Sunday as we worship, fellowship and grow together in God’s Word.

# # # 🏛️ SUNDAY MESSAGE — CAN WE BUILD AGAIN?

This Sunday we continued our journey through **The Second Temple: Rebuilding, Restoration & the Presence of God**.

The story of the Second Temple reminds us that God can begin rebuilding even after seasons of destruction, disappointment and exile. The people returned to Jerusalem and, before rebuilding the Temple, they rebuilt the **altar**. Restoration began with worship.

When the foundation was finally laid, some people shouted with joy while others wept because they remembered what had been lost. Their different responses remind us that **a new season may not look like the previous one**. God’s restoration does not always mean going back to what was—it can mean embracing what He is doing now.

The question for each of us is:

**What needs rebuilding in my life?**

🙏 My prayer life?
❤️ My relationship with God?
🏠 My family?
🔥 My passion?
📖 My spiritual disciplines?
🎯 My calling?

**Don’t despise the foundation.** You may not see the finished building, but God can begin with one obedient step.

📖 **Key Scriptures:**
Ezra 3:3 • Ezra 3:11–13 • Jeremiah 29:10 • Revelation 21:3

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, granddads, and father-figures in our SWCC family!
💙 What a wonderful Sunday it was as we gathered together to honour you.
This Week's Message: "Building a House That God Dwells In"
Pastor took us to Psalm 127:1 — “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labour in vain.” Using the pattern of the Old Testament Tabernacle (the Outer Court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies), we saw a beautiful picture of how fathers can build their families: starting with their own walk with Jesus, creating space for prayer and connection at home, and making God's presence the true centre of family life.
The challenge was clear — a good family isn't the goal; a God-centred family is. 🏠✝️
Fathers, your children may forget the car you drove, but they won't forget that you prayed, worshipped, and loved Jesus. That's a legacy worth building!

📢 This Week at SWCC
🙏 Prayer Meeting — Every Sunday, 9:15am–9:45am. Come along if you'd like prayer for healing or any specific need.

📖 Midweek Bible Study — Wednesday night, 7:30pm at church. Continuing our study through the Book of Mark (Jonathan) and Discipleship (Joel).

🎤 Guest Speaker Ps Kaine Reinking — Sunday 11th October, 10am. Don't miss it!

🌿 **SOUTH WEST CHRISTIAN CHURCH – WEEKLY UPDATE** 🌿

Hi Church Family! 😊

We pray you’ve had a blessed week. It was wonderful to gather together on Sunday to worship, fellowship and hear God’s Word.

A special thank you to **Ruth**, who preached a great and encouraging message on **Faithfulness**. 🙏 It was a timely reminder of who God is and what it means for us to continue walking with Him, even when we don’t understand what He is doing.

# # # 🕊️ SUNDAY’S MESSAGE – FAITHFULNESS

📖 **Key Scriptures:**
Deuteronomy 7:9 • Hebrews 11:39 • 2 Corinthians 12:9 • Galatians 5:22–23

Faith says, **“I believe God is who He says He is.”**

Faithfulness says, **“I’m going to continue walking with Him even though I don’t understand what is happening.”**

We were reminded that God is faithful because faithfulness is part of His very character. Our response is to trust Him and keep walking, even when we cannot see the outcome.

We looked at Noah, who faithfully built the ark despite never having seen rain; Abraham, who obeyed God without knowing where he was going; Sarah, who trusted God for a child when it seemed impossible; and the Israelites, who faithfully marched around Jericho before seeing the walls fall.

Paul’s experience with his “thorn” also reminds us that God doesn’t always remove the difficulty. Sometimes He uses the difficulty to deepen our dependence on Him: **“My grace is sufficient for you.”**

# # # 💡 KEY TAKEAWAYS

• **God is faithful**, even when life doesn't make sense.
• Faithfulness means **continuing to walk with God** when we cannot see the outcome.
• Faith is demonstrated through **obedience**.
• God can use pressure and difficult seasons to **grow our faithfulness**.
• We are being shaped to increasingly **reflect God’s character**.

# # # 📢 COMING UP

🙏 **Pre-Service Prayer Meeting**
Every Sunday | **9:15am – 9:45am**

💍 **Alpha Marriage Course – Online**
Thursday | **8:00pm**

👨‍👧‍👦 **Next Sunday – Father’s Day & Communion Service**

Next Sunday we’ll be celebrating **Father’s Day** as we gather together for Communion.

💙 We’ll also have a **small but thoughtful gift for all the fathers** as we honour and appreciate the dads, grandfathers and father figures in our church family.

Bring the whole family and come ready to celebrate together!

# # # 📖 ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE WEEK

**“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God…”**
— **Deuteronomy 7:9**

You may not understand what God is doing, but you can trust **who He is**.

Keep walking. Keep believing. Keep obeying.

**God is faithful! ❤️**

Have a wonderful week Church Family, and we look forward to seeing you next Sunday!

🙌 Sunday’s Message: Freely You Have Received — Now Freely Give

It was such a great honour to have Ps Nick Lo Surdo from Destiny Church, Bowral, with us this Sunday. We were truly blessed by his ministry, passion for Jesus and the challenge he brought from God’s Word. Thank you Ps Nick for being with us!

📖 Key Scripture: Matthew 10:7–8

Jesus told His disciples, “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ … Freely you have received; freely give.”

We were reminded that God doesn’t call us to wait until we feel perfectly qualified before we step out in faith. The disciples were still learning, yet Jesus gave them authority and power and sent them out.

Our gifts are not given for personal status or recognition—they are given for the common good. What God has freely placed in us is meant to flow outward through prayer, encouragement, compassion, serving, sharing our testimony and believing God for others.

Faith moves. Gifts grow through use.

The challenge for us this week is simple:

👉 Don’t wait until you feel ready. As you go, trust God and freely give what you have received.

📢 THIS WEEK AT SOUTH WEST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

📖 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” — Acts 1:8

This week, don’t wait until everything is perfect. Take the next step of faith. What God has placed in your hands may be exactly what someone else needs.

Have a wonderful and blessed week! ❤️
