Imagine having to risk your life just to get to school.

For some children in the Mekong Delta, crossing a fragile Monkey Bridge is part of their daily journey. Carefully balancing across unstable logs and gripping a thin railing, they face danger simply to reach the other side.

Through your donations, Vietnam Foundation has replaced dangerous monkey bridges and built over 50 strong, permanent crossings, improving accessibility to essential services and reducing travel time for hundreds of thousands of people.

For many families across rural Vietnam, clean drinking water isn’t guaranteed.

At Vietnam Foundation, our Environmental Sustainability Program addresses this challenge through, practical, community-led solutions. Our Rain Water Harvesting Program provides families that have been identified as most in need with rooftop collection systems and locally produced water vats, allowing them to capture and store clean rainwater safely.

Through your donations and our partnerships, we have provided over 2000 water vats in villages across the Mekong Delta - but there is still more to do. With your continued support, we can help more communities access clean, reliable water.

Here’s a look at some of our completed projects - a reflection of what can be achieved when we work together.
🌉 Completed bridges that connect rural villages to essential services such as healthcare, education and local markets.
🚰Rainwater harvesting vats that improve access to safe drinking water, reducing the burden on families who previously traveled long distances to collect water.
🚲Repurposed second-hand bicycled delivered to students in remote areas, helping reduce travel time and improving school attendance.
🏫Constructed and renovated schools, boarding houses and orphanages that provide safer learning and living environments with improved facilities.

Last month, 32 VNF Build a Future scholarship students aged 13 to 19 took part in a three-day summer camp at Madagui Forest Park. For many of these students, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds or living with disabilities, this was their first time experiencing an outdoor recreation program.

Through team-building and leadership activities, sports, creative workshops and performances, students developed new skills and gained greater confidence.

We are grateful to DatViet Tours (Đất Việt Tour) and Rotary Saigon’s One Million Lives Rotaract Club (Rotaract Club of One Million Lives Saigon, Vietnam ) for organising this camp and providing the students with an unforgettable experience.

At VNF’s 2026 summer camp, 41 Build a Future scholarship students from Grades 10 to 12 took part in the popular annual event held in Da Nang City. This program was developed by Ms Phuong Anh Nguyen from Rotary Saigon’s One Million Lives Rotaract Club.

Phuong Anh and her group of team leaders encouraged students to engage in “thinking work” to better understand the demands of university life. Students also participated in a variety of team-building activities, including video presentations and debates, which helped them become more articulate and develop greater confidence.

A huge thanks to Phuong Anh, her team, and the academic experts for creating this meaningful experience and supporting our scholarship students as they prepare for their university journeys.

A special moment of connection and care 💙

These photos capture students at one of our Compassionate Schools receiving supports enabled by a donation from Vietnam Foundation (VNF) supporters in the UK Prof Chris O’Brien, MBE, and wife Dot. This generous gesture has created a powerful impact!

Chris is senior Rotarian from the Woolaton Park Rotary Club in Nottingham. With Central Melbourne, Campbelltown (South Australia), One Million Lives Rotaract Club, and Saigon Clubs, Rotary is becoming a strong financial and program supporter of VNF. This is greatly appreciated!

Through VNF’s Build a Future Scholarship Program, we partner with Compassionate Schools to support children from some of the most disadvantaged backgrounds. These schools provide a safe, inclusive learning environment for students who are currently unable to enrol in formal education or you have a disability, are in extreme poverty, or challenging family circumstances.

Compassionate Schools help ensure that no child is left behind. Beyond education, they offer stability, encouragement, and practical support — including a daily meal, which may be the only meal a child will receive that day.

We’re grateful to Chris and Dot, and our Rotary partners, for helping make these moments possible — and for standing alongside these students as they work towards a brighter future.
