We’re excited to introduce our MC for OFA’s Spring Mixer: Anton Enus!

Anton is a South African-born Australian news presenter and current co-host of SBS World News on Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).

As a broadcast journalist for 38 years, Anton campaigns against discrimination and prejudice by telling people’s stories and in using his public profile to support organisations that empower people to be their true, authentic selves.

In his career and in the community, Anton aims to show the value of visually presenting members of the community, so that we can learn their names, hear their backstories and appreciate their presence. We are very proud to have him as our Patron.

No endless meetings and no perpetual commitments. Instead, residents complete clear monthly creative deliverables while also pitching and delivering their own unique “Legacy Project”.

Out for Australia are deeply saddened by the passing of our Emeritus Patron, Professor The Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO.

Dame Marie was a trailblazing leader in Australian public life and a distinguished psychiatrist, remembered for her dignity, compassion, lifelong service, and steadfast allyship of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Dame Marie served as Governor of New South Wales from 2001 to 2014, and her contribution to mental health, education, and social inclusion will be felt for generations.

We were honoured when Dame Marie accepted our invitation to become our inaugural Patron at our national launch at NSW Parliament House in March 2015, lending her voice and leadership to our mission of mentoring, visible role models, and community for young LGBTIQ+ people.

Everyone at Out for Australia extends our heartfelt condolences to Dame Marie’s family and loved ones, and to all who were inspired by her remarkable life.
