Arctic Breed Rescue

Arctic Breed Rescue Arctic Breed Rescue Inc is a private rescue resource, with a focus on assisting pound needies within the State of NSW.

Arctic Breed Rescue (ABR) is dedicated to the successful rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of our beloved arctic breeds - Akita, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, Siberian Husky and their crosses. Prioritising rehabilitation (if needed) over rehoming, ABR does not operate on a first come first served basis. We take the time to get to know our charges aiming to make their next move, their last. The back

bone to ABR, quite simply, is our legendary foster carer network. Did you know that you too can be part of a bear's journey? For more information please visit our website - www.abrinc.org.au - and complete our foster form. From there one of the coordinators will be in touch to have a chat and answer any questions you may have. ABR is dedicated to ethical rescue and responsible pet ownership at all times. We always put the needs and wants of our beloved arctic breeds first and foremost. All animals available for rehoming through ABR are desexed, microchipped, lifetime registered (NSW only), C5 vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated, and internal and external parasite treated. Most important of all, all of our dogs will come with a lifetime of love. Please "like" and share this page with your friends and family - you never know where the next home can come from!

VALE, LYRIC
28 April 2026

We had a dream. That you would learn how to dog. That the feel of the wind running through your fur was preferable to hiding under your bed 24/7. What a full and nutritious belly would feel like...heck we just wanted you to eat full stop.

That feeling of a gentle human hand stroking your body, scratching your ears and calling you all the good boys under the sun.

Your tail held high as you explored the big, wide world with wonder and not fear.

Whilst it would be remiss of us to say the last four months have been easy, they also haven't been that hard as at your core you wanted what we wanted. Having recently turned a very small corner it should have been onwards and upwards.

The universe obviously had other plans for when your loving 'rental came home last night it was to find you peacefully and permanently asleep in your favourite spot.

We don't know what or why, but the only comfort we have right now is knowing that you are not only flying, but singing with the angels.

Thank you for your courage, your resilience and for being "you".

Fly high, Lyric. Fly high.

What a day! We were told things were quieter than usual on account of some Oompa Loompa on the other side of the world. They lied as we had to go get more supplies… before the lunch rush!

Huge thanks to Sam, Ty, Tiani and Kalese who cooked and served up a storm. All with a smile on their face to boot!

With most of the Vale crew on holidays it was left to Zima and Nixon to fly the Arctic flag. They brought their humans Karl and Anita along for the ride

And because we’re not breed racist around these here parts we may have slipped some sausages to some oodles, a Pomeranian and the one breed that still makes me piddle my pantaloons some, a sharpei.

Now to crash and burn for the rest of the day!

EDIT
I have to acknowledge that there is still some good in the world. This elderly gentleman came to buy a sizzle and only had a bank card. Unfortunately we could only accept cash or the Bunnings QR Code system, which didn’t work for him. I could see his face fall as he said he couldn’t get one after all.

Observing the lay of the land I told him not to worry it was on us (IYKYK) and his relief at getting something to eat was palpable.

But I’m not mentioning this to pat ourselves on the back. But rather to thank that anonymous lady who not only dropped some money into our donation box, but also insisted on paying for that elderly gentleman’s sizzle. It wasn’t necessary but she insisted - there are still good people in this world.

FOSTER CARER WANTED

So I sat down to go through some more apps for The Noodles. But before I did that I chose to open an email from the pound. A generic one that went to all registered rescues asking for help.

Now what you guys don’t know is that behind the scenes we have been slowly working on the parents of our trio. At least to desex if not rehome. Getting nowhere.

So imagine my surprise when who pops up on the list but Dad!

In their infinite wisdom they have made him rescue only.

We need to get him out. But to do that we need you.

He is dog social. All sizes. He is an excitable boy who loves attention and affection. His manners are likely nil as they were just dumped in the back yard and gets overstimulated when attention is paid to him but hey that’s all teachable.

If you can help please visit our website and fill in the foster carer form. www.abrinc.org.au

We NEED to do this. Please help.

Edit
They have him down as 2-3. Not sure who gave him that age (he isn’t chipped) but he is under 18 months. Still a baby himself.

Well cover me in molasses then roll me in some sugar, for I'm enough to send one into a diabetic coma. And we don't want that.... or, do we?

Knowing you'll forgive me for my trespasses, no matter how minor they are, the moment you stare into my parti eyes you know I'm the type of bear who fits in just about anywhere.

Watching me with my canine friends, of all ages and sizes, is truly a sight to behold as we run around the yard, perhaps dig where we're not technically supposed to... or partake in a lazy game of bitey face wrestling. You'll be impressed, I promise.

But, when it comes to you humans you will need a shot of insulin for I'm a bit of a suck-up, following you around like I'm your new tattoo. There is no greater pleasure than snuggling up in your arms, perhaps oh-so-gently nibbling a toe or ten with my developing pearly whites, through to ensuring that all noms not only pass my quality assurance benchmarks, but you will not need to trouble yourself with a mop should you drop the noms on the floor. My pleasure, you're welcome.

ABR Note - although we have set these pups up to enjoy life, right now they are a blank canvas that are primed to develop into stunning ambassadors for the breed.

I find the world is my oyster, ready for adventure and frivolity. You'd be forgiven for thinking I'm the quiet one. Although that is relative, I'm actually the type of bear who puts his thinking cap on first, observing my surroundings. Strategising for mass destruction with an exit plan, or knowing that I am actually ruler of this little kingdom? To be determined, but what a ride it will be finding out.

With all that said don't let my quiet self lull you into a false sense of security for as much as I love my snuggles with you humans of all ages, I shine when it comes to canine shenanigans. A dive bomb here, a gnawing of another's tail there. My zoomie game? Strong.

With no fear when it comes to environmental factors or everyday life, just know that there will be words if dinner is a minute late. A growing boy has gots to eat!

If I was an actress from the golden era I'd have to employ someone to pass me the smelling salts, for everything I do comes with an air of the dramatics. When I feel I'm not getting all of the attention that is due my fabulous self, I've been known to bark myself into a fainting spell. (Reality is I topple over, but let's go with what I've written - it's a better headline).

The fridge door - where all the yummy noms are held - not opening fast enough? Then when it does it's empty? How dare you tease with the injustice of it all... sounding my displeasure as I climb into the fridge to make sure it's not hiding on me. Never let it be said that I'm not a girl who knows what she deserves in this life.

Not one to put much stock into environmental noises and the general disruptions that come with everyday living, I am settled and confident within myself. The type of girl who chooses the spotlight I'm loud, I'm proud and have been known to wee my pantaloons on the odd occasion with excitement. A choose life kinda gal, I await a lifelong journey full of abundant adventures with my human and canine buds of all ages, and all sizes.

Ok so there may be a mini rant happening here.

Your dog gives birth. How do you not know which day they were born on? What four pups suddenly appear and you don’t know when?

I get guesstimating ages with unmicrochipped animals. Necessary evil and not an exact science. But you would think if they were born in your home….

It came to pass we had to guess in conjunction with veterinary advice and where we felt they were up to developmentally.

The date of 19.01.26 was first mentioned. It was very close to the one year anniversary of my Strike passing so I chose the date he became the brightest star in the night sky.

21.01.26

If they turn into half the good boy he was there is some very lucky families on the horizon.

For those who picked up on what I said above there were four pups in the litter. Unfortunately and before they came to us one little bubba passed. Based on what we know with the surviving pups we believe she/he passed from anaemia due to an extreme worm burden. Gutted we didn’t get to them all in time :(

This photo cracks me up so I just had to use it. Enjoy!

Yeah so we’ve been a bit slack with the puppeh spam. And by “we” I mean me as ‘rental Donna has ran out of memory on her phone… twice.

Truthfully I’ve been a bit reluctant to share updates because I feel a massive rant would result. And my energy levels didn’t have the stamina to monitor the thread. I mean I don’t get BYB at the best of times but surely minimal standards of care are not too much to ask for.

However they came to need us I’m just thankful they had one of the best puppy raisers in their corner. These guys were lucky when so many others, aren’t.

Over the last couple of weeks they have met their developmental milestones. They’ve been gently schooled by the resident dogs where needed and heeded their lessons. Mainly.

We’re almost there with their unbelievable worm burden. They consistently gained good weight rates. Raw has been introduced into their diet. They know which shelves of the fridge the good stuff is kept on and strategise on how to get to it. Stealthily or not. The best part though? Their energy levels have increased tenfold and they are turning into the asshats puppies we know and love with their personalities shining bright. Not that Lil’ Miss D ever had a problem there…

My crystal ball tells me that in the next week or so you’ll be spammed to the max as I play catchup… and then comes the fun part. Adoption applications going live.

But first let’s get through their big day tomorrow. First vaccinations!!! Prayers, thoughts and earplugs needed.
