WahibaTrade (WT) is a non-for-profit and non-governmental organisation which works to combat the rise of global inequality through the promotion of sustainable and ethical trade practices. WT builds trade partnerships which support communities by generating alternative streams of income and employment whilst working to safeguard a community’s independence. First of all, WT sources all its products
directly from disadvantaged communities with the aim of creating long-term, sustainable and equitable industries within these localities. In addition, preference is given to goods produced in accordance with Fair-Trade principles that emphasise equitable value-distribution and better working conditions. All money raised through the subsequent sale of these goods is recirculated back into these communities in order to fund key human-development projects.

How is our approach unique? Rather than promoting ‘Fair’ trade, WT seeks to promote ‘Fairer’ trade. WT redistributes all proceeds back into the communities, regions or states in which are items have been originally sourced or produced. As such, we do more than simply encourage export jobs in these economies. We use the money created from such export-oriented growth to reduce the very dependency that these localities have on exports markets. All proceeds from commodity sales go into supporting local development of the communities from which products were originally sourced.
