The Sydney Women’s Fund has been in Melbourne this week for Women Deliver Conference 2026.

If there’s one thread running through the sessions and conversations, it’s this: progress on gender equity requires us to show up differently. More inclusive. More collaborative. And more willing to do things in new ways. Not just talking about diverse voices, but making real space for them.

We are pleased to have supported 10 grassroots organisations from Sydney to attend the conference. These organisations are doing the community-led work every day, and it’s been great to see that work shared on a global stage.

Being part of this week has reinforced the role Sydney Women’s Fund can play in backing community-led work and contributing to a broader movement for change ❤️

We are excited to announce Community Funds for Gender Equity is launching! Thanks to those that came along today to hear more about this important milestone.

Sydney Women’s Fund is proud to be part of this growing alliance of women’s funds, giving circles, and community and Indigenous-led initiatives working together to advance gender equity across the country.

We know that progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through connection—when communities, movements and resources come together to support shared goals. This collaboration is about strengthening those connections and building the infrastructure needed for collective action.

Community philanthropy plays a vital role. It’s not about solutions flowing to communities, but being led by them—backing local knowledge, lived experience, and grassroots action to drive meaningful and lasting change.

By working together, we can build something stronger and more enduring—supporting local action while contributing to a broader movement for gender equity.

📣 Our Table Liverpool is now open to expressions of interest

Our Table Liverpool is a community-designed program supporting women to navigate cost-of-living pressures through cooking, connection and financial confidence. It’s been shaped through extensive local engagement and is part of a broader effort to improve outcomes for women in the area.

We’re currently looking for:

🔸Community Governance Group members
A paid role for local community members to help guide the program’s direction. You’ll contribute to decision-making, ensure the program reflects community needs, and help identify opportunities for it to grow over time. No prior governance experience required — training and support provided.

👉 Apply via: https://forms.gle/K98iVpiF29LPDA4d7

🔸A Host Organisation
We’re seeking a local organisation to deliver the program, with up to $175,000 available to support a 12–18 month pilot. The host will employ staff, manage delivery and operations, and work in partnership with the Community Governance Group who guide the program’s direction.

👉Apply via our EOI form: https://forms.gle/fsDPvK6iXpDFbXEF7

If this resonates with you or someone in your network, we’d love to hear from you. Please share widely 💛

🌟Supporting Women, Strengthening Communities

In FY2025, Sydney Women’s Fund is proud to have invested in community-led solutions that put women and families at the centre of change.

Our year in numbers:
❤️ 12,622 women and families supported
🧡 $638,386 granted
💛 18 programs funded across our Safety & Crisis, Education & Employment, and Inclusion & Wellbeing pillars

This year, we also re-invigorated our place-based philanthropy program in Liverpool, Doorways to the Future, backed by the Snow Foundation and Judith Neilson Foundation. By listening to local voices and backing community leadership, we’re supporting solutions that are designed and driven by those who know their community best.

From crisis care to education, employment, and inclusion, we are proud to invest in initiatives that help women and families feel safe, valued, and empowered.

To mark International Women’s Day, Sydney Women’s Fund was proud to co-host Rights. Justice. Action., a powerful panel discussion with Philanthropy Australia.

Guided thoughtfully by Nicole Abadee, this conversation joined Georgina Byron AM, CEO The Snow Foundation and Chair of the Sydney Women’s Fund, An Le, Domestic Violence Clinical Lead at Bonnie Support Services and Jonathan Huynor, CEO Justice and Equity Centre.

An shared powerful insights from her work with women and children in crisis, highlighting the reality of navigating fragmented and often inaccessible services at the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Her reflections underscored the urgent need for deeper investment in the operational capacity of frontline domestic violence services.

Jonathan spoke about the critical role of legal assistance in supporting women experiencing domestic violence, speaking to the work of JEC in offering a ‘continuity of service’, lawyers working across civil and criminal proceedings to accompany women through what are often deeply painful legal processes.

Georgina emphasised the importance of a gender-lens approach to philanthropy, grounded in the belief that when women thrive, communities thrive and the need for men to be active partners in advancing women’s rights. She highlighted the power of collective giving through trusted intermediaries such as Sydney Women’s Fund, which bring donors together to move resources quickly to where they are needed most, while supporting the deeper systems change required to better protect women and girls.

We left the room inspired and more committed than ever.

Thank you to Clayton Utz for generously hosting the event.

As we look ahead, Sydney Women’s Fund remains focused on strengthening community voice, access and belonging. This update shares two upcoming opportunities: scholarships to attend Women Deliver 2026, and a save-the-date for our International Women’s Day event.

WOMEN DELIVER 2026: SCHOLARSHIPS NOW OPEN
Global conversations on gender equality too often exclude grassroots voices.

That’s why Sydney Women’s Fund, with Snow Foundation, has launched 10 community scholarships for Sydney-based grassroots organisations to attend Women Deliver 2026, taking place between 27–30 April 2026 in Melbourne.

Women Deliver is one of the world’s largest global conferences on gender equality, women’s health and the rights of women and girls, bringing together more than 6,500 leaders, activists and funders from around the world.

The scholarships remove cost barriers so community-led organisations, including those working with underrepresented women, can bring lived experience into global conversations and take learnings back to strengthen local impact across Sydney.

The Sydney Women’s Fund team will also be attending Women Deliver 2026 and hosting and contributing to a range of activities across the conference. We would love to see our community there and will share more as the conference approaches.

Apply now for one of the scholarships to attend the Women Deliver Conference in April 2026. Applications close 13 February 2026.
