This weekend, Ropes Crossing crews took the opportunity to maintain skills by training in between incident calls.

On Saturday, B Platoon headed to Huntingwood Zone Office to practise skills such as Door entry techniques; Emergency life support and Mayday drag.

Today, A Platoon, On-call and Cranebrook 098 crews headed to the Emergency Services Academy to practice skills such as Door entry techniques; Search & Rescue; Incident Management; Radio messaging; Highrise firefighting and Cordage.

On this day in 2016 Ropes Crossing Fire Station began active operations!

Formed in 1942, the Dunheved Fire Brigade adopted the name Ropes Crossing Fire Brigade when they moved into their new station in 2016.

At around 2:30pm this afternoon, crews responded to multiple calls for a house fire at Sorensen Crescent, Blackett. First arriving crews found an unoccupied single level attached dwelling fully involved. They quickly attacked the fire and upgraded the response to a 2nd alarm Structure Fire. The fire destroyed the house with no fire extension into the attached neighbouring dwelling.

A smoke alarm that doesn't work is just a plastic disc on the ceiling.

Test yours every month. If it doesn't beep, replace the battery. If it's older than 10 years, replace the alarm.

Winter is house fire season !

Yesterday afternoon, crews responded to multiple 000 calls for a house fire in Garden Place, Bidwill. On route, crews sighted a large column of black smoke prompting an increase to a 2nd Alarm Structure Fire.

On arrival, crews found the top level of a townhouse fully involved. Multiple crews got to work to extinguish the fire. The top level was destroyed. A pet Python was safely removed from the house by firefighters.

This morning at 4:30am, crews responded to another house fire at Koomooloo Crescent, Shalvey. The fire was quickly extinguished with damage to a few rooms. One cat was rescued by firefighters with another 3 found safe outside.

This morning at 4am, firefighters responded to reports of a house alight at Segman Crescent, Shalvey. On arrival, crews found a 2-level townhouse alight. Additional crews were requested.

The fire was extinguished with the townhouse sustaining significant damage. There were no reports of injuries.

This afternoon, Fire and Rescue NSW Station Mt Druitt 032 and Fire and Rescue NSW Station Ropes Crossing 078 attended a bushfire within RAAF Memorial Park, Belmore Ave, Mt Druitt.

The fire was allowed to burn in a small section of the bushland to reduce the fuel load before Summer. The fire was then extinguished.

At 1am this morning, Ropes Crossing firefighters responded to a car fire at the rear of Whalan Reserve. The car was extinguished.

Yesterday afternoon, we attended a rubbish and bushfire within Tregear Reserve. The fire was extinguished. NSW Police attended both incidents.

Around 2:30pm yesterday, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 032 Mt Druitt responded to a bush fire in Doctor Charles McKay Reserve, Mt Druitt. Due to the size of the fire, further resources were called.
FRNSW is seeing a large increase in the number of intentionally lit grass and bush fires recently. Please report any suspicious activity to NSW Police.

A cold 4am call this morning. A 000 call was received for a vehicle on fire along Wianamatta Parkway, Ropes Crossing. On arrival, crews found an SUV and a tow truck on fire. Both vehicles were about 15 metres apart.

The vehicles were extinguished with NSW Police investigating.
