This morning, Rising Tide Gadigal (Sydney) hub came to the Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure offices in Parramatta to tell to SAY NO TO HVO! Inside this office, Minister for Planning Paul Scully is currently reviewing an extension proposal for the Hunter Valley Operations coal mine, owned by Yancoal and Glencore.

If approved, this would be the largest mine in NSW’s history, with lifetime emissions of 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2, equivalent to 8 times the annual emissions of the entire state of NSW. The HVO extension proposal will leave the coal workers high and dry without a plan for industry transition, and endangers the health and safety of us all. Join us to tell DPHI to SAY NO TO HVO — sign the petition at the link in our bio.

WEDNESDAY MORNING: Join us for a dawn candlelight vigil at Prime Ministers Albaneses’ residence to demand he breaks his silence on the illegal kidnapping of flotilla participants and publicly condemn Israel.

Tonight, Israel again illegally kiddnaped Australian citizens in international waters as they attempted to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza.

We will gather together in front of his residence, to mourn the devastating ongoing loss of life; to rage against the complicity of the Australian government in these atrocities; and to demand that Albanese break his silence and condemn Israel once and for all. The relaunched flotilla must be supported to reach its destination unharmed, and establish a humanitarian corridor to let aid flow to Gaza.

Returned flotilla participant Ethan Floyd will share some words, and we will join together in songs of resistance.

Anthony Albanese’s silence in the face of unimaginable evil speaks volumes. We must come together to demand he breaks his silence, does all that he can to ensure the safe release of all Australians detained by Israel, and ends Australia’s support of Israel

Anthony Albanese’s silence in the face of unimaginable evil speaks volumes.

The genocide in Palestine continues. Six Australian participants were illegally kidnapped and beaten by Israeli forces in international waters as they attempted to bring aid to Gaza, and still the man has nothing to say.

Please stand with us 🌊🕊️

6 courageous Australians onboard the Sumud Flotilla, including our comrades Zack and Ethan, were kidnapped by Israel off the coast of Crete, in international waters, attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.

Join us as we paddle across Sydney Harbour, in solidarity with those in the Sumud Flotilla and with our comrades who have been taken by Israel.

We call for the safe passage of the Flotilla to Gaza, and for the safe return of those who have been taken. We also call for the Australian Government to grow a backbone and to stop supporting Israel as it destroys Palestinian lives and the environment.

See you on Sunday at 10am at Milson Park to kayak, or at 11am at the Man O’ War steps at the Opera House to see our kayakers home! Please look to take public transport in, as there will be road closures due to the half marathon.

The Sumud Flotilla is underway, heading towards Gaza to break the Israeli siege and deliver aid to the Palestinian people.

Join us this Sunday, May 3rd, at 10am as we paddle across the harbour in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla and Palestine. Kayaks will be launching from Milson Park in Kirribilli, with a rally welcoming them at the Opera House at 11:30am.

Come along and show your support for Palestine and the Flotilla.

Join us as we paddle across Sydney Harbour in solidarity with the Global Sumud Flotilla and the people of Gaza. 🌊🇵🇸💙

Rising Tide’s own Zack Schofield will be sailing with the flotilla, alongside 16 other Australians and thousands of other people from over 100 countries, heading toward Gaza carrying vital aid — including food, baby formula, and medical supplies.

Rising Tide is proud to support Zack and the Sumud Flotilla. Our fight for climate justice is inseparable from the fight against war, occupation, and all systems that put profit before human life and planetary survival. From coal exports to weapons components, Australia is entangled in global systems of harm — and it’s up to ordinary people to resist them.

See you on the beach!

Do you like stopping coal mines? Having good conversations with like-minded people over brunch? Then join us on the 15th for the opportunity to do both at the same time!

The situation:
Yancoal is seeking approval to expand its Moolarben Coal Mine (OC3) near Mudgee on Wiradjuri Country. This proposal would significantly extend one of NSW’s biggest thermal coal operations, locking in more climate pollution and causing serious harm to threatened species, water sources and cultural heritage.

This is a critical moment to speak up and call on the NSW Independent Planning Commission to recommend that this destructive coal expansion does not go ahead.

Even if you can’t make it to brunch, you can still write a submission online anytime before the 17th of February.
Otherwise, come join us at the Humanist Society at 10am on the 15th!

While we suffer through rolling heatwaves, bushfires and floods, the government continues to green light new coal developments and expansions across the country.

The link between the coal industry and climate breakdown is undeniable. Australia’s obligations under international law are crystal clear - the coal export industry must end. Now.

The application to expand the Moolarben coal mine, one of NSW’s largest producing mines, is currently before the Independent Planning Commission. With Mt Pleasant and Ulan coal mine applications being overturned, we have undeniable momentum in the courts.

Help us make this round of submissions to the IPC as abundant as possible to send a clear message to this government that they do not have our consent to continue down this destructive and deadly path.

This is Manjot. She is leading the Nature Conservation Council campaign to stop the expansion of the Moolarben coal mine on Wiradjuri country, near Mudgee.

We now have the opportunity to prevent Yancoal from adding 64 million tonnes of carbon emissions to the atmosphere, and destroying the habitat of endangered regent honeyeaters and microbats, and breeding koalas.

Join us on 15 February 2026 to write submissions to the Independent Planning Commission, sending a message loud and clear that the people say NO to coal expansion in this country!
