Rising Tide Sydney, Festival of Action WSU, and Enviroment Collective WSU bring you a screening of Nagana Yarrbayn - The Water Protectors!

This documentary follows Senior Cultural Custodian Adrian Burragubba and the Wangan and Jagalingou Cultural Custodians in their ongoing fight to protect their ancestral waters and the sacred Doongmabulla Springs from Adani’s Carmichael coal mine.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion exploring water protection, First Nations resistance, climate justice and collective action.

The evening will bring people together to share food, watch the documentary and reflect on what water protection asks of us across communities, movements and institutions.

Every day pollution from coal mines contributes to climate change and drives higher grocery bills and damage from climate disasters.

When we reduce climate pollution from coal, we reduce the risk of worsening floods, fires and heatwaves that wreck lives and livelihoods, destroy nature and wildlife and leave us all worse off.

This is why NSW can’t afford any more extensions for polluting coal mine projects, including Hunter Valley Operations (HVO), the biggest proposed coal project in NSW history.

On August 8, join us in Martin Place to Raise Your Voice against HVO – and the 19 other coal mine extensions in the NSW planning pipeline.

At this peaceful rally, you’ll find out more about HVO, hear people’s lived experience of climate pollution impacts and take part in a community choir singing in protest. No singing experience needed.

Let’s show our solidarity for a safer future, from Sydney to regional towns and communities and beyond.

Bring signs, bring your friends and let’s make it clear we can no longer afford worsening climate change.

Government denies responsibility?!... šŸ”šŸ«„šŸ§

Rising Tide investigators wanted to know why the Minns government is on track to approve the largest mining project in NSW history, despite its own reports showing that fossil fuel projects have a devastating impact on the climate.

We think Chris Minns hasn’t read his own reports! So we delivered them to his office.

You too can have your say and write an objection to the HVO mine extension. Every submission counts, and can be as long or short as you like.

Submissions to the IPC close on Wednesday August 5th. Find out more at the link at our bio and below:

āŒSay no to HVOāŒ

We’re calling on Chris Minns to reject the Hunter Valley Operations expansion and to instead support workers in the Hunter into new, secure jobs.

Join us as we build momentum against HVO at our submission writing and crafternoon session in Sydney at 24 Bourke Rd, Alexandria on July 18th from 12-4pm.

The Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) coal mine extension is currently under consideration for approval by the IPC (Independent Planning Commission). Rising Tide is saying NO to HVO!

Public submissions to the IPC are open now and every submission counts: it’s time to show the IPC just how many of us reject this mine proposal.

We know a submission can be daunting, that’s why we’re hosting an IPC submission writing event.

Join the RT Gadigal (Sydney) Hub in The Nest at 24 Bourke Rd, Alexandria— where we’ll share writing, educational resources, and help each other with our submissions. Drop in any time between 12-4pm. For all the crafters, we’ll have a craftivism table to work on banners and art for our upcoming campaigns. No craft experience needed — we’ll learn, teach and share. We might even practice some protest songs together....! šŸŽµ

Afternoon tea, food, and drinks provided. Any snack contributions are welcome but not essential!

Please bring yourself and a device to write your submission on. Can’t bring a device? No worries, we will have paper form options and some spare devices!

Register at www.risingtide.org.au/hvo_gadigal or at the QR code pictured above.

WEDNESDAY MORNING: Join us for a dawn candlelight vigil at Prime Ministers Albaneses’ residence to demand he breaks his silence on the illegal kidnapping of flotilla participants and publicly condemn Israel.

Tonight, Israel again illegally kiddnaped Australian citizens in international waters as they attempted to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza.

We will gather together in front of his residence, to mourn the devastating ongoing loss of life; to rage against the complicity of the Australian government in these atrocities; and to demand that Albanese break his silence and condemn Israel once and for all. The relaunched flotilla must be supported to reach its destination unharmed, and establish a humanitarian corridor to let aid flow to Gaza.

Returned flotilla participant Ethan Floyd will share some words, and we will join together in songs of resistance.

Anthony Albanese’s silence in the face of unimaginable evil speaks volumes. We must come together to demand he breaks his silence, does all that he can to ensure the safe release of all Australians detained by Israel, and ends Australia’s support of Israel

6 courageous Australians onboard the Sumud Flotilla, including our comrades Zack and Ethan, were kidnapped by Israel off the coast of Crete, in international waters, attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.

Join us as we paddle across Sydney Harbour, in solidarity with those in the Sumud Flotilla and with our comrades who have been taken by Israel.

We call for the safe passage of the Flotilla to Gaza, and for the safe return of those who have been taken. We also call for the Australian Government to grow a backbone and to stop supporting Israel as it destroys Palestinian lives and the environment.

See you on Sunday at 10am at Milson Park to kayak, or at 11am at the Man O’ War steps at the Opera House to see our kayakers home! Please look to take public transport in, as there will be road closures due to the half marathon.

27/04/2026

The Sumud Flotilla is underway, heading towards Gaza to break the Israeli siege and deliver aid to the Palestinian people.

Join us this Sunday, May 3rd, at 10am as we paddle across the harbour in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla and Palestine. Kayaks will be launching from Milson Park in Kirribilli, with a rally welcoming them at the Opera House at 11:30am.

Come along and show your support for Palestine and the Flotilla.
