North Shore Mums Smiles2U Smiles2U now supports 14 hospitals with care packages to those in emergency situations in hospital.

North Shore Mums Smiles2U is a 100% voluntary charity which aims to bring care and comfort to the many children, adults and carers who pass through the Emergency doors of our local hospitals every day. Our packages are made to help everyone’s needs when disaster strikes. These packs have been carefully put together with items to support the patient with comfort and care whilst going through a very challenging time in their lives. Smiles2U was created 7 years ago and in 2020 became a Registered Charity in NSW, with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. Smiles2U now supports 12 hospitals with care packages, smiles bags, cancer care packs and comfort for those who find themselves in hospitals unexpectedly. The hospitals we support are Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), Ryde Hospital, Wise Specialist Emergency Clinic, Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAN Hospital), Hornsby Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital ( Oncology Ward), Sydney Children’s Hospital Westmead, Gosford Hospital, Gosford Private Hospital, Wyong Hospital, John Hunter Children’s Hospital and Bear Cottage Children’s Hospice.

💛 Smiles all round at HQ today! 💛

Today is World Smiles Day, a day created to remind us of the simplest and most powerful gift we can give each other: kindness. And for a child in hospital, a smile can feel like the whole world has brightened.

For the families we support, hospital stays can be frightening, lonely and exhausting. A Smiles Bag won't change the diagnosis, but it can turn a hard day into a moment of joy, play and comfort.

That's why today means so much. Our friends from The Village Chef by Meals on Wheels came to the Smiles2U warehouse, rolled up their sleeves and helped pack an incredible 335 Smiles Bags, each one filled with toys, activities and cuddles for children across the North Shore.

Every one of those bags will land in a little pair of hands on a day they need it most. Thank you to Grace and her team for giving your time, your energy and your hearts.

How Smiles2U began…

In 2015, our founder Michelle experienced every parent’s worst nightmare.

Her eldest son, just 18 months old, accidentally ate cashew nuts and suffered a severe allergic reaction. He was rushed by ambulance to Sydney Adventist Hospital, where Michelle sat beside her frightened little boy in the emergency department watching him swell up like a balloon.

Spending many hours being monitored, there was only so much she could do to distract and entertain her son..

From that moment and idea suddenly started to evolve of what could be done for children who arrive to hospital, unprepared and vulnerable.

After many months of research and development, talking to friends, medical professionals and a team behind Michelle….

Smiles2U was launched in July 2015.

What started with a handful of friends and two hospitals has grown into a community powered charity bringing smiles to thousands of children and families and supporting 14 hospitals across the North Shore and Central Coast.

Because sometimes, a small bag can make a very big difference.

Every child in hospital deserves to smile and we hope to continue this for many years to come ❤️
