Our Movement Practitioner, Cazna Brass, in conjunction with and funded by Onkaparinga Council held a DanceMoves class on the Tuesday as a “day before International dance day” come and try at Aberfoyle Community Centre (under Onkaparinga Council - council funded). 7 lovely ladies turned up on Tuesday morning for a little groove!

Here’s the full quote from one of the participants:

“I booked and went to Cazna’s class and it was terrific and enjoyed by everyone who attended, and we all agreed that those who didn’t attend really missed a great time. Her ‘dance’ moves, whether you are sitting in a chair or standing or both, were fun to do yet gave you a gentle but really good workout and it was put to music that older people recognised and helped with timing.

I liked that she gradually increased the number of repetitions and changed where to tap or stretch, that trained your brain. I improved even in one session but have a long way to go to coordinate my feet and arm movements at the same time!! Couldn’t stop laughing!

Cazna mentioned at the beginning to do what you could and stay sitting if necessary and not to worry if you don’t do moves properly. I loved that you exercised without any pushing or competitiveness that you get in gyms. Cazna has a lovely personality and is a gently encouraging teacher and has a fantastic program to improve movement in your joints and strength. It was fantastic! Thank you.

I hope Onkaparinga look to book more sessions with her. DanceMoves Participant

Wonderful news! 🎉

Thanks to the incredible team at Lindfield Community Bank, Dance Health Alliance has received a grant to create a new class for our community.

Introducing… our new DanceWise for Dementia Community Class!

If you are interested in therapeutic movement classes for people with dementia plus their carers, comment below ⬇️ Let us know what interests you and tag the Lindfield Community Bank 🏦💪

It is such a privilege to be recognised by such a generous organisation in our local area and we are very excited to use these funds to bring more dance to people who need it!

Last week, our CEO Gwen Korebrits, Chair of the Board Jenny Jones, and Project Coordinator Eloise Koch attended the Great Big Community Grants Presentation Night to accept the grant cheque.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet other thriving local organisations creating opportunities for connection and support for so many different people.

Thank you once again to Lindfield Community Bank and Bendigo Bank. We look forward to sharing all the great things we can do as a result of your support!

There is something truly special about seeing joy come alive through movement.

These moments are about so much more than dance. They are about connection, confidence, laughter, and feeling part of something meaningful.

For older adults, dance can support balance, mobility, memory, and emotional wellbeing — but just as importantly, it creates moments of happiness, belonging, and human connection.

A shared smile. A familiar song. A hand to hold.

These are the moments that matter.
Because healthy ageing should be filled with joy, dignity, and community.

What a beautiful way to celebrate International Dance Day - our wonderful DanceMoves community in South Australia’s class happened to fall on International Dance Day. They made it extra special with a fun dance quiz and a lovely morning tea before their usual Wednesday session.

The dancers truly embraced the occasion, with some arriving beautifully dressed to honour different dance styles. From an elegant tribute to Isadora Duncan with a flowing scarf representing contemporary dance, to a square-dancing outfit, a cheerful yellow tutu, and even a treasured tango dress once worn by a dancer’s mother, the room was filled with joy, memories and creativity.

A wonderful reminder that dance brings people together through movement, expression, connection and celebration at every age. 💛

Happy International Dance Day! 💃🕺✨

What a beautiful way to celebrate with our wonderful DanceMoves community in South Australia.

As yesterday’s class happened to fall on International Dance Day, we made it extra special with a fun dance quiz and a lovely morning tea before our usual Wednesday session.

Our dancers truly embraced the occasion, with some arriving beautifully dressed to honour different dance styles.

Across the world in Gran Canaria, something powerful is unfolding. 🌍✨

Our inspiration and original collaborator, Andrew Greenwood is bringing people together through music, movement, and human connection in a transformative project - Moving Concerts.

This innovative initiative blends live music, movement, and interaction—inviting audiences to become participants, breaking down barriers between performer and observer, and creating a shared space of inclusion, wellbeing, and belonging.

At its heart is a simple but profound idea: when we move together, we connect. When we connect, we create understanding.

This vision is at the heart of what we do at Dance Health Alliance. It is wonderful to see this movement inspiring people across the globe, allowing people to engage authentically with one another through music and movement.
