Association of Veteran Surfers AVS is a Surfing Queensland affiliated Boardriders club founded by veterans with the vision of a healthy and active su***de free veteran community.

We hope to achieve this through building a strong veteran community based around surfing and mateship.

Battle On The Break 2025

And just like that the 3rd BOTB has come and gone.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out and made the event possible.
for assisting with the grant application through Health and Wellbeing grants to for organising the catering and some funds. President Matt Tyler and Huggo for helping get the event running and the pictures and videos for us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

This years event was the biggest and best yet. We had 7 hours of private pool hire so the kids and families could have a crack at the Waves.
We had 54 competitors and numerous free surfers come along and enjoy the event.

We were stoked to see everyone at the event and cant wait to do it again next year.

Congrats to Team AVS on the win and the 3-peat 🏆🏆🏆 and the individuals who took out the top spots in each division.

Hi All,

Update: Battle On The Break
URBNSURF Sydney
22nd/23rd November 2025

Dates are definitely locked in and we will have the pool for 2 hours Saturday night, 4-5 hours Sunday morning.

2-3 hours Sunday will be comp with 2 hours set aside for free surfing and a chance for family members to have surf if they wish, some learn to surf sessions will be available also.

Saturday night will be 2 hours of free surfing to get used to the wave before Sunday's comp.

The park is in Sydney Olympic Park so best look for accommodation around there or an AirBNB is Wentworth point.

We are still working on comp format and the finer details. Will get them to you at a later date.

Let me know if you intend on coming so we can get an idea on numbers.
