St Edmund's on the Red Carpet at the Focus On Ability - Short Film Festival - Chatswood Concourse

Congratulations to 11D and Ms Minkley whose short film "The Bright Side" featured with distinction at The Focus On Ability Short Film Festival at the Chatswood Concourse. It was great to see so many of our students, families and connections walking the Red Carpet at Chatswood Concourse Concert Hall.

And we were inspired to support St Edmund's "other" entrant film, which was produced by the Dole Family : Karin, Hugo, Remy and Jono, and is entitled "My Brother Hugo". The Dole's made us incredibly proud and elated, when they took home a major award for Best Production.

If you have a chance have a look at these beautifully succinct masterpieces: https://focusonability.com.au/films/2026/my-brother-hugo-12142

We are blessed with wonderful students, families and community at St Edmund's Wahroonga and the messages provided in both these short films are at once, inspirational and uplifting!

Thank you to all the team from Focus on Ability, and presenters, including actor John Jarrat, and many other stars of the large and smaller screen, who made this a great event to showcase the ability and message of so many great people in our local, wider and international community.

Thanks also to major sponsor Nova Employment for once again facilitating and organising this wonderful international event which has stood the test of time over 18 years

Bridie takes on the Manly Surf with Sam Penny and the crew from Heroes Australia

St Edmund’s Wahroonga is incredibly proud of Bridie in Year 12 who recently hosted Sam and Lachlan MacArthur (of Bondi Rescue fame) to our College Assembly as Ocean Heroes celebrated their 10th Birthday with their crew visiting from WA.

The Ocean Heroes program has made a massive difference for Bridie, demonstrating her confidence, resilience, and sense of fun and challenge, in taking on the surf and ocean in a way she had previously found daunting.

Today Bridie surfed the Manly Beach Spring swell before a crowd gathered for the Annual Manly Jazz Festival and rode the β€œWave of the day” in great style.

It was a great day for Bridie and for St Edmunds demonstrating that our students can do anything they apply themselves to. Even after backing up from a busy Week 9 and Term 3 Disco Night. Go St Edmunds!

Congratulations Bridie, we are so proud of your efforts and look forward to others following your lead with Ocean Heroes and other initiatives which bring our students to their best opportunities.

Thank you Sam and the Team from Ocean Heroes!
