Congratulations to Cliff and Margaret Smith who were recognised by the Diocese of Parramatta for their generous contribution to the life and mission of the Church at St Thomas Aquinas Parish, Springwood.

Cliff and Margaret have been involved with the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW for decades as members and volunteers, serving communities across the Blue Mountains with compassion and care.

Check out these stars at Busking for Vinnies. For the month of August at Centenary Square, Parramatta, local schools have put on lunchtime musical performances to busk and raise funds to help St Vincent de Paul Society NSW assist people in need.

Special thanks to Delany College, Granville, Oakhill College, Catherine McAuley Westmead, Parramatta Marist High School, Gilroy Catholic College, Mount St Benedict College, St Edmund's College Wahroonga and Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta whose students all put their faith in action and raised vital funds to help the Society.

Funds raised from Busking for Vinnies will be used to support people experiencing homelessness in Western Sydney.

We're honoured to be named the inaugural partner of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia Foundation, working together to improve access to essential medicines and support better health outcomes for people experiencing disadvantage.

The new national initiative is focused on improving access to medicines and pharmacy care for people in Australia experiencing hardship.

We see first hand how rising living costs can force people to choose between everyday essentials and their health. Partnerships like this help ensure more Australians can access the support they need with dignity.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this partnership possible. You can read more here -

Our schools and youth team supports hundreds of schools across the state through initiatives such as Mini Vinnies and the Vinnies Service Medallion.

We’re delighted to have so many young people getting involved and giving back to their communities in the name of doing good works!

Red Bend Catholic College in Forbes has had a long association with St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, spanning 91 years, through their High School Conference.

Students from Red Bend recently took part in a Winter Stay In where they learnt about homelessness, heard from speakers with lived experience of homelessness, and reflected while sharing a simple meal of soup and bread.

Initiatives like this help to raise awareness of social justice issues that stay with students for life and help to shape a more just and compassionate society for all.

There’s opportunities for young people of all ages to get involved with the Society NSW through fundraising, advocacy and hands-on service. Learn more at youthnsw.vinnies.org.au/

In two weeks time, participants across NSW will take part in the Vinnies Community Sleepouts in Albury, Armidale, Dubbo, Greater Sydney, Orange and the Southern Highlands. We will be sleeping outdoors for one night to raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness and hardship.

This is your last chance to get involved! You can register for your local event, or, if you're unable to join us on the night, please consider making a donation.

Your support can help provide practical assistance, food, housing support and hope to people facing difficult circumstances in our community.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Please register or donate on our website: https://www.vinnies.org.au/communitysleepout

Our West Wollongong conference members and staff have celebrated 80 years of St Therese Conference providing service to the local community.

The celebration honoured the many members who have given their time over the decades, helping neighbours through tough times and making our communities stronger.

The Conference folder was presented at the celebration with every member and those that have been assisted since 1946 represented in the contents. The folder was a reminder that small actions can have big impacts on peoples lives.

Thanks to the volunteers, members and supporters who've been part of the Conference and here's to the next 80 years.

Circumstances can change in the blink of an eye. A job loss. An eviction notice. A health diagnosis.

Stability can turn to uncertainty in times like these and that's where the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW can provide a lifeline of support.

David is one of the thousands of people we've been able to assist in a time of need.

This is what meeting the immediate needs of people in crisis looks like, while also restoring dignity, connection and hope.

Vinnies Vans brings together frontline support services so that vulnerable community members can access assistance free of charge. At our recent Waterloo hub, people were able to get a meal, healthcare support, dental care, optometry services, clothing assistance, referrals, and other practical supports all in one location.

Thanks to Street Side Medics, PAYCE Foundation, Mobileyes Optometry Australia, Thread Together, Short Back and Sidewalks the Family Hairdresser by Anto for making this hub possible and helping vulnerable people.
