Great results for NSW players in the recent Victorian Online Pairs Championship!

Congratulations to Pauline Gumby and Warren Lazer for taking out 1st place, and to Andrew Peake and Giselle Mundell for finishing 3rd. It has been fantastic collaborating with Bridge Victoria on this event.

The cross-state action continues with NSW now hosting Season 2 of the Online Teams League, which commenced on Monday, 1 June.

The 2026 Victorian Online Pairs Championship recently concluded, and it was great to welcome NSW pairs to the competition, as part of our collaboration with Bridge NSW.

Congratulations to all players, and a special acknowedgement to the following placegetters:

The Les Longhurst Teams of Three wrapped up yesterday with plenty of cheer!

This wonderfully unique yearly event sought to unite novices and intermediates with the best of the best, succeeding in all measures!

A big thank you to everyone involved: organisers, director, captains, caterers, helpers, and especially to all the players!

Many prizes were given out during the day, courtesy of our amazing sponsors: Sydney Bridge Club, North Shore Bridge Club, Trumps Bridge Centre, Joan Butts Bridge, and Paul Lavings Book Shop.

Thank you also to the amazing mentors who put their hands up to offer players the chance to play a game with them and provide their insights!

We have reached the penultimate round of the Online Pairs League Autumn season!

Derrick Browne’s excellent recap of this week’s play, "𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭", is now available to read.

Next week brings the final round of the season. Along with Derrick’s final wrap-up, we will be announcing the official results and winners across all five divisions.

In May, we profiled the Newcastle Bridge Club—a club whose journey to establish a permanent home is filled with humorous anecdotes and is ultimately a story of persistence and dedication.

With more than 300 members, 10 weekly sessions, and regular social events, it’s a thriving club run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Their monthly ‘Potluck Partners’ Sunday sessions are a particular highlight; participants draw a card and find a new partner for the day.

From local club rooms to statewide events, our game relies entirely on the incredible dedication of volunteers. They truly are the driving force of our community.

We thank all volunteers for your invaluable contribution to bridge in New South Wales.

This year’s theme is “𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫”, and giving back doesn’t have to mean a massive time commitment. There are flexible ways to get involved at every level:

👉 𝐀𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛: Simple acts like helping pack down after a game, contributing a plate for a social event can make a big difference.

OPL Autumn – Match 6 recap: 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚

Resident expert Derrick Browne has channelled the joy of Eurovision for his week 6 recap of the Online Pairs League.

"The title of the winning Eurovision song can be translated as “𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫” and this week's OPL was joyful for those who revel in attempting delicate bidding decisions in a hamster wheel amidst smoke haze while being strobed by enemy preempts."

One of the most popular events on the annual bridge calendar is just around the corner, and spots are filling up fast! Registration officially closes on 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎 𝐌𝐚𝐲.

This is a unique, rewarding day of bridge focused on fun and learning. Your team of three will be matched with an experienced team captain – a state, national, or international representative player – who will guide and mentor you throughout the day.

Please note: To keep the focus on learning, players must have fewer than 1000 masterpoints to join a team.
