By definition, a Young Planner is a person with no more than five years post-graduate experience in planning or a planning related field.

When the Vision and the Model Disagree - Who Wins? Modellers vs Planners Debate: Shaping the Future of Our Cities

The choices we make today will shape Sydney's future for generations. As precinct rezoning continues to transform our city, a fundamental question remains: should long-term planning vision drive decision-making, or should transport modelling evidence determine what is practical and achievable?

Join TPA Emerging Professionals and PIA Emerging Planners for an engaging debate exploring the intersection of vision, evidence, and city-making.

Representing the transport modelling perspective, Joshua Jang and Nancy Zhuang will go head-to-head with Hannah Bedford and Matthew Le Guay, representing the planning perspective. Moderated by Kajal Antil MPIA, the discussion will challenge assumptions, spark conversation, and invite audience participation as we tackle one of the transport industry's most relevant questions.

🏡 Torrens, Strata or Community Title — what’s the difference?

Subdivision isn’t just about drawing new boundary lines. The type of title can shape how land is owned, shared and managed long after a development is completed.

In this edition of PIA Buzzword, we break down three common title types in NSW:

🏡 Torrens Title — my land
🏢 Strata Title — my lot + our common areas
🌿 Community Title — my property + our shared estate

And for planners, there’s more to subdivision than title type. From lot size and access to servicing, site constraints and future development potential, there’s plenty to consider when assessing a subdivision proposal.
