Access Sydney Community Transport

Access Sydney Community Transport A not-for-profit community organisation providing accessible, affordable transport. ASCT places great value on quality, safety and customer service.

We support the frail, aged, people with disabilities or health issues to access and participate in community life! ASCT was formed on the 1st July 2015, as a result of the merger between two not-for-profit organisations, namely, SESCT and IWCT. Both organisations brought to the partnership a long history of community transport provision in their respective localities. SESCT had been providing comm

unity transport services in the City of Sydney and across Eastern Sydney for more than 35 years. IWCT had been operating similar services in the Inner West of Sydney for 30 years. As a merged entity, ASCT now offers a range of accessible and affordable transport options across nine Local Government Areas. Services include social, shopping and medical trips, individual and group transport options, assisted shopping, free shuttle bus services in the City of Sydney, a shuttle bus service in Ashfield, and travel training services in the Inner West. Its main target groups are frail older people, younger people with disabilities, and people who are transport disadvantaged. ASCT currently receives funding from Transport for NSW, NSW Department of Family and Community Services, and NSW Department of Health. It is also contracted by the City of Sydney to provide the Village to Village shuttle bus services. The governing body of ASCT is a skills-based volunteer Board comprised of individuals with relevant expertise and a strong commitment to locally-based community transport. It is accredited under the Bus Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS). In addition, ASCT is fully compliant with the Commonwealth Home Care Standards and the NSW Disability Service Standards. ASCT has a sound, on-the-ground presence, actively seeking meaningful consultation with local communities which contributes directly to service development and improvement. ACSTโ€™s key partners include its funding bodies, City of Sydney Council, Strathfield Municipal Council, community transport providers in the local region and beyond, and a wide range of aged care providers, disability service providers, and language, cultural and community groups.

Dementia isnโ€™t one-size-fits-all and neither are its symptoms.

Alzheimerโ€™s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies are among the most common types โ€“ and each affects the brain in different ways.

From memory loss and confusion to changes in behaviour, language or movement, the symptoms can vary widely depending on the type of dementia.

This guide highlights some of the common symptoms linked to each illness, but itโ€™s also important to remember that no two people experience dementia in the same way.

By recognising the different signs, including these lesser-known symptoms, we can spot changes earlier and help more people access an early diagnosis.
