💙 Sometimes, hearing from families about their experience says it best!

We loved receiving this feedback from a parent who completed our Virtual Residential Parenting Service (VRPS).

Our virtual program brings personalised parenting support into the comfort of your own home, helping families work through challenges, build confidence and feel supported along the way.

We're so pleased to hear that this family found the support, reassurance and guidance they received so valuable. 🧡

🚽Toilet training your toddler?

Learning to use the toilet is a big milestone for little ones, and it can take time, patience and plenty of encouragement!

Every child develops at their own pace, but there are some simple things you can try to help make toilet training a more positive experience for everyone.

🌟 Create a routine – Offer regular opportunities to sit on the potty or toilet, such as after meals or before bath time.

💙 Use positive reinforcement– Celebrate your child's efforts, not just their successes. A little encouragement can go a long way!

🚽 Use the right equipment – A child-sized potty or toilet seat with a step stool can help your little one feel safe and comfortable.

👖 Dress for success – Choose clothes that are easy for your child to pull up and down independently.

💬 Encourage communication – Talk about using the toilet in simple, positive language and help your child recognise when they need to go.

🧡 Be patient and consistent – Accidents are a normal part of learning. Stay calm, offer reassurance and remember that every child learns at their own pace.

Most importantly, try to keep toilet training relaxed and pressure-free. With time, support and encouragement, your little one will build confidence and independence.

💙 Happy Allied Health Professions Day!

This year’s theme, ‘Allied health: For everyone, everywhere’, celebrates the important role allied health professionals play in supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.

At Karitane, our allied health professionals work alongside children and families to support communication, development, parent-child relationships and family wellbeing, particularly during the critical first 2,000 days of life.

Working as part of our multidisciplinary teams, they bring specialist knowledge, compassion and a family-centred approach to helping children and families grow, connect and thrive.

Today, we want to say a special thank you to our wonderful Karitane allied health professionals, and to those we work alongside across the sector. 🧡

Thank you for your expertise, dedication and the meaningful difference you make for children and families every day!

Meet Alison, Nurse Manager at our Campbelltown Early Parenting Service! 💙

For Alison, one of the highlights of working at Karitane has been seeing the organisation’s commitment to both family-centred care and staff wellbeing, alongside the strong sense of teamwork across services.

“There is a strong culture of teamwork across services, with staff consistently willing to share knowledge, work together to solve challenges, and support one another to achieve the best outcomes for families.”

But it’s seeing the positive changes in the families she supports that makes her role particularly rewarding.

“From admission through to discharge, it is incredibly fulfilling to witness parents develop confidence, strengthen their skills, and achieve their goals. Being part of those moments of growth and seeing families gain a greater sense of confidence in caring for their children is a privilege.”

Alison also loves hearing from families after their stay and knowing the support they received has made a lasting difference in their lives.

Thank you, Alison, for your dedication, leadership and the important role you play in supporting our Campbelltown team and the families in their care! 🧡

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October

October is Mental Health Month in NSW, and today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded of the importance of looking after our mental health and supporting the wellbeing of those around us.

This year’s message, Together We Thrive, reminds us of the power of connection, community and supporting one another. For parents and carers, looking after your own wellbeing matters too. Parenting can bring moments of joy alongside times that feel challenging, overwhelming or uncertain – and reaching out for support can make a difference.

At Karitane, we’re committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of parents, babies and families, and working alongside families to help them feel supported and connected.

This Mental Health Month, take a moment to check in with yourself and the people around you. 💚

💡 Quick Tip: Let them lead

Try setting aside 10 minutes, putting distractions away and letting your child choose what and how you play together. 🧸💙

Following their lead is a simple way to enjoy time together and build connection.

🌞Daylight saving time starts this weekend in NSW.

Daylight saving time brings with it an extra hour of sunlight, but it can also affect your child’s sleeping patterns and your day-to-day routine. ☀️

Here are our tips to help with the transition:
🕑️Gradually move bedtime earlier by 10 to 15 minutes each night for 3-4 nights before putting the clock forward.
🛌Stick to your normal bedtime routine.
🌠Darken the room as there will be more light in the evening.

Remember, change takes time; try to be patient as your family adjusts to the change.

Need help with the adjustment? 📞 Call the Karitane Careline on 1300 227 464 to speak to a caring and experienced Child and Family Health Nurse. 🧡
