Legacy Australia has joined eight other national veteran service organisations in a joint open letter to Minister Keogh, raising serious concerns about the proposed $5,000 Annual Monetary Limit - "the cap" - on DVA-funded allied health services.

We welcome the record investment in allied health provider fees and the removal of the treatment cycle. Both are genuine wins for veterans. But introducing a dollar cap alongside those improvements sends a contradictory message about whether the care veterans need will actually be there for them.

The cap isn't due to start until 1 July 2027, but the uncertainty it's creating is affecting veterans and families right now.

We're asking Minister Keogh to reconsider this approach and work with our sector to co-design a solution, one that protects quality care for veterans and holds providers accountable, without putting the burden on those who've served.

Nine organisations. One voice. Standing up for veterans and their families.

Today, Legacy commemorates Vietnam Veterans' Day on the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. We remember the sacrifices of the almost 60,000 Australian veterans who served in Vietnam, and their families, who stood beside them both during the war and in the tragic, long-lasting aftermath, caring for them through the physical and mental health effects of war service. Today, we honour them all, including the 523 Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Our Vietnam veterans have also left a lasting legacy in raising awareness of mental health and PTSD, helping shape a deeper national understanding of the challenges many face after service.

Legacy's work in supporting veterans' families matters. Legacy stands proudly alongside our veterans and their families, honouring the promise made on the battlefield to look after the partners and kids.

Growing up, Will found comfort in Legacy's youth camps — spending time with other kids who understood exactly what he was going through.

He and his sister, Ella, built friendships with other veterans' children and discovered the confidence that comes from knowing you belong.

This Legacy Week, your support helps gives more young people a place to grow with confidence, belonging and hope for the future.

During Legacy Week (30 August - 5 September), thousands of volunteers across Australia will be out in the community, selling iconic Legacy badges, bears and other merchandise to the public.

The Legacy badge is a special emblem of support for our veterans’ families, symbolising our nation’s greatest values of mateship and compassion. These badges may be little but the funds they raise make a big impact in the lives of our veterans’ families.

When you buy a badge, you’re providing our veterans' families with real, life-changing support, so our veterans’ families don’t go without - care through financial assistance, advocacy, education and social opportunities.

We are still seeking dedicated people to get involved this Legacy Week by volunteering to sell badges or host a fundraiser. Find out more here legacy.com.au/legacy-week

Peter was just 29 when he passed away from a brain tumour linked to his service in the Royal Australian Navy.

His wife, Rebecca, was suddenly left to raise their two young children — four-year-old Will and seven-month-old Ella — alone, while navigating overwhelming grief.

One of Peter's final wishes was that Rebecca contact Legacy. She did, and the very next day, a Legacy volunteer was on her doorstep.

This Legacy Week, your donation can offer that same lifeline to another veteran's family 💜

Sydney Legacy is pleased to announce Legatee Julie Bowden has been elected as the club's new President.

Legatee Bowden's Legacy journey started when her son was on his first tour of Afghanistan. After seeing a story about Legacy on TV, she decided to volunteer with our Parramatta Division — and with her husband, Michael, having served 29 years in the Navy, she already knew just how much this work matters.

Since then, Legatee Bowden has poured her heart into supporting Legacy families, especially through the Education Committee - the arm of Legacy that helps our students with scholarships, textbooks, uniforms, laptops and more, from kindergarten all the way through to finishing their tertiary studies.

She was also previously Sydney Legacy Vice President.

Last month, Sydney Legacy hosted its second snow camp, bringing together 18 Juniors for a week on the slopes. For many, it was their first time ever seeing snow!❄️

Beyond skiing, the week was full of new friendships, snowball fights, and Juniors cheering each other on as they grew in confidence and skill.

Emily attended the camp with her sister, Ava, and said: "It was an unforgettable experience that taught me so much—not only about skiing, but also about confidence, resilience, and stepping outside my comfort zone."

Ava said: "Having my sister there to share in the excitement, along with the chance to meet and connect with new people, made it a trip I will always remember. Thank you, Legacy, for this fantastic opportunity."

Opportunities like this are only possible because of the generosity of our donors. Thank you for helping us give these young people a week they'll never forget ❤️
