It has been impossible to watch the fight that she's putting up against cancer since last year with anything other than feelings of great respect and awe. Witnessing her positive attitude, mental toughness and ability to draw on the great support of h
er family and friends is inspiring in the extreme. But it's not easy to watch from the side. Most of us keep wondering, ‘What can I do?'
Well, how about joining in a fundraising effort to raise money for the Cancer Council? We have registered a team, inspired by Ilana's fight in the Cancer Council's Relay For Life. The team is called Tikva, which means hope in Hebrew. The relay is a 24-hour community event held at Centennial Park on Saturday 21st of May, where teams participate in a picnic and walk to raise funds for the Cancer Council. It will be a festive atmosphere with entertainment, food and celebration. And we have a few different ways that you can get involved:
1. Come to the relay and picnic on May 21. Join us at Centennial Park for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life event. It will be a great chance to participate in a community walk, while catching up with friends. The event runs for 24 hours (you can even pitch a tent in the park and stay overnight, if you like - something that is usually forbidden at Centennial), so we've created a spreadsheet so you can see when your friends are going, and help you plan when you'd like to attend.
2. Attend our fund-raising dinner at Brown Sugar on May 15
We are throwing a fantastic dinner at Brown Sugar in Bondi. Please see the attached flyer and menu. Tickets are $150 for a three-course meal, including wine and lucky door prizes. ($75 from each ticket goes to the Cancer Council. Contributions are tax deductible.) There will also be the opportunity to make additional donations on the night should you wish to do so. 3. Donate to our team and be automatically entered into our fabulous raffle
For every $5 that you donate online, (https://relay.cancercouncil.com.au/donate/T20253), we'll enter you into our raffle. (For example, if you donate $20, we'll issue four tickets. Donate $50 and you'll get 10.) The raffle prize pool will close on Sunday 29th May at midnight and will be randomly drawn at midday on Monday 30th May. The winners will be contacted via email and/or phone. Please make sure your donation is made with your name and current personal details (not anonymously) so we can allocate tickets to you and contact you if you are one of the lucky prize winners! Prizes so far include:

- 1-hour portrait shoot from MM Photos with professional retouching and a framed 16 x 24” print (worth $950)

By pulling together with the common focus of projecting healing energy towards Ilana, we can make a profound difference to affect the outcome of her fight. Together with Ilana, we thank you for your enthusiasm in raising money for this cause, which is very close to Ilana's heart.
