Feeling tight, tired, or overwhelmed often isn’t just about doing too much.

Sometimes it’s the result of habitual patterns your nervous system has learned over time — like holding your breath, clenching your jaw, lifting your shoulders, or bracing without even noticing.

These patterns can become so familiar that they feel normal.

The Feldenkrais Method® helps bring these unconscious habits into awareness through gentle, attentive movement.

As you begin to notice how you organise yourself, new possibilities emerge.

Breathing becomes easier.
Movement becomes lighter.
Effort becomes more efficient.

You don’t need to force change.

Often, simply becoming aware is enough for your nervous system to discover a more comfortable and natural way of being.

Less tension.
More ease.
More choice.

Tightness, soreness, and limitation are often treated as problems to push through, stretch away, or fix.

But sometimes, what your body needs isn’t more force,
it’s more awareness.

The Feldenkrais Method® offers a gentle, low-impact way to reduce unnecessary tension by helping your nervous system discover more efficient ways of moving.

Through slow, attentive exploration, you begin to notice habitual patterns that may be creating strain without you realising it.

As awareness grows, new possibilities emerge:
movement becomes lighter, easier, and more coordinated.

And often, the simple actions of everyday life, like bending, walking, reaching, turning, breathing, begin to feel more comfortable again.

Sometimes, lasting change begins by doing less and sensing more.

What if better performance didn’t come from trying harder? 💪🧠

We’re often taught that improvement comes through more effort, more repetition, more force.

But performance isn’t only about how much effort you generate, it’s about how well that effort is organised.

The Feldenkrais Method helps refine the way your nervous system coordinates movement, improving precision, efficiency, and adaptability.

When unnecessary effort is reduced, sensing becomes clearer.
When sensing becomes clearer, coordination improves.
And when coordination improves, performance becomes more reliable, even under pressure.

Sometimes the most powerful changes are the smallest ones:
a shift in timing, a clearer sense of support, a more efficient distribution of effort.

Small changes in coordination can create remarkable differences in performance.

Less strain. More precision. Greater control.

The nervous system often mistakes familiarity for efficiency 🧠

Just because a pattern feels normal doesn’t mean it’s optimal.

The Feldenkrais Method helps the brain update its internal models through novelty, variation, attention, and reduced effort, the exact conditions that support neuroplastic change.

This is why Feldenkrais often looks subtle from the outside:
the real work is happening in the nervous system’s ability to perceive, differentiate, and reorganise itself.

Gentle doesn’t mean ineffective.

In the Feldenkrais Method, working gently is what allows the nervous system to sense more clearly.
And when you can sense more, you can organise your movement more efficiently.

Force often creates resistance.
But gentle, attentive movement creates the conditions for real change.

✨ Less strain. More clarity. Lasting improvement.

If stretching and strengthening haven’t worked, it may not be your body that needs fixing.

It may be how you’re organising your movement and posture.

The Feldenkrais Method doesn’t focus on forcing change through effort.
Instead, it works with your nervous system, helping you sense how you move, notice unnecessary tension, and discover more efficient patterns.

When coordination improves, strength and flexibility can finally function together.

✨ Feldenkrais helps you learn easier, more intelligent ways to move.

Whether you practice Pilates, train at the gym, or play a sport, performance and injury prevention depend on more than strength or flexibility.

Somatic awareness, is the ability to sense and organise yourself from within, and allows you to:
• refine technique
• detect early warning signals
• distribute effort efficiently
• adapt to changing demands

This is where the Feldenkrais Method supports sustainable movement: by training the nervous system to move with clarity, efficiency, and choice.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS 🤓

💪 MUSCLES LEARN TOO
An online ATM Master Class with Andrew Gibbons
Saturday 17th January, 2026
8:00-10:30am (AWST)

When Dr. Feldenkrais spoke about “coordinating flexors and extensors”, he meant your obliques—or at least how to resolve some of the conundrums buried in the abdominal layers. In this masterclass, Andrew Gibbons will lead you through the popular “coordinating flexors and extensors” ATM lesson and explain why an understanding of your obliques lies at the heart of the lesson’s design, constraints and success.

🪑FUNCTIONAL CHAIR IDEAS FOR YOUR FI WORK
with Lena Rosenberg
Sat 31 Jan 11am - 5pm
St Kilda Baptist Church VIC

In this Advanced Training you will explore functional connections in a position that is familiar and easy for most: sitting on a chair.
The chair is an effective tool, not just for working with the elderly or for limited work settings; it can be used for a full FI or at different moments of an FI, as a useful way for integrating movements that were done in a different position.
